Has anyone out there put a lite and superlite on the same scale to determine the weight of each in the same caliber? I like the superlite due to the aesthetics of the flutes and the greater surface area of the barrel for cooling, but I don't live anywhere near a SW and there aren't many used in 270 that people are willing/wanting to part with. That said, if the weight savings is minimal over the lite, I may just order a lite and be done with it.

I'd have to dig around but I believe I've seen it stated before. Just guessing off the top of my head but I think we are talking a few ounces at best. As a reference, here is my 300WM Superlite at 6lbs 1oz stock with stock rings. If someone has access to a stock Lite then we could compare. Granted, the magnums have a longer barrel but I think the fluting is the same length so the reduction should hopefully be the same.

I'd just go for a Lite and maybe have the barrel fluted later if you want.

I just had the scope and rail off my Superlite 7mag and on the OMP bow scale it went exactly 96 ounces. That's with a steel recoil lug (vs stock alum) and an aluminum bolt shroud (vs stock plastic) .....and a couple coats of paint. Also, mine still has the stock recoil pad on it which I believe is lighter than the limbsaver.

I think you're being a little optimistic on that but nevertheless we're talkin' ounces here .... I don't cut the handle off my toothbrush and I don't wear the same shorts for a week

I have a superlight '06 with a limbsaver, steel recoil lug, full length bedding and an aluminum bolt shroud - I also have a Montana 84L '06 as issued - I KNOW the Kimber is lighter but they both feel the same in MY hands due to balance and such and I prefer the "feel" of the superlight so it goes with me more often and has killed more stuff

I wouldn't go so far as to say I am being optimistic. I think it's more a matter of the scale I used is designed to measure the draw weight of compound bows. I was simply relaying what information I had available as a ballpark figure.

I had Sportsman's Warehouse weight both. They found a 3 oz difference. At the time, the Lite was $100 off, and the SL sure wasn't worth the cost difference then.
