Tikka rokstock fitment

Can anyone post any pictures of a Tikka in a rokstock especially left side of action? I know the gas relief on left side of action in the factory stock sits right at the stock line. Mine sits a little higher in the rokstock. Can't seem to get action to fit down any deeper and not 100% sure if it's seating on the recoil lug.

Pop your action out, and take a look right in front of the recoil lug.

There is a relief for the action before the barrel channel starts.

I suspect that one of the molds at Stocky’s is putting out stocks where this relief is just a few hundredths of an inch too tight. Maybe it’s a thermal expansion issue when the mold is setting up.

Any way, pop your bottom metal out so you can see the bottom of your action, and how it sets onto the stock. With good fitment there shouldn’t be any extra space when the action sets in the stock. If the action relief cut is too tight, you won’t be able to get it to settle on the recoil lug, and you’ll have space between the action and stock when viewed from the the mag well channel.

I dremeled out the relief myself. But UM should fix it if the relief is too tight and you don’t want to work on it yourself.

Yes, I've had issues with how it fits on the face radius of the action there and tight on barrel shanks. I sanded it out and bedded one of the rokstoks because of that.

In wind gypsy's picture it looks like they are sitting in the same place as the factory stock. What you are describing sounds exactly what mine is doing, I'll take a look at it tonight after work.

“For the price”? You mean one of the least expensive carbon fiber stocks on the market?

I get what you are saying, however also, people act like they are $1,000 McMillans or Manners (which also frequently have issues). It’s a $500 or $600 stock- at some point people need to be realistic.

Having expectations the stock correctly fits the barreled action that was ordered for it , is not unreasonable or unrealistic. By all means raise the price to insure quality control if that is necessary. I would have no issues with paying more for a “plug and play system”.
I also think the stocks and new scope are priced way below market value. However, it is not my place to tell your team how to run your business.
I do appreciate the great value I am receiving.

I have little doubt that there have been issues, however I have personally put over 200 stocks on rifles- including several that the owners said didn’t work or didn’t fit- all of them fit without issue, with a couple being hard to get the lug lined up right, and two where the sides were tight, but a couple taps on the top of the action and they sat correctly. None had to have anything fixed.

Again, not saying they are perfect, but people way over-blow “issues”.

Correct it is one of the cheaper options. I spent $700 on mine out the door. A guy a day or 2 ago posted he was having to cut the buttpad off to remove material pieces that were rattling around inside. And if you order a stock for an action it should fit. If mine shows up rattling or needing a Dremel to fix it it will be getting returned to be made right. I dont have problems working on things but for $700 I also dont feel like I should have to. If its a discounted blem, fine you should expect small issues.

A guy a day or 2 ago posted he was having to cut the buttpad off to remove material pieces that were rattling around inside. And if you order a stock for an action it should fit. If mine shows up rattling or needing a Dremel to fix it it will be getting returned to be made right.

From memory:

Almost all have been- “action wont fit in the stock” or “cant get it seated on the lug- the lug is out of spec”. A couple of “the LOP kit broke”- when they tightened and not loosened the screws until the carbon broke. A bunch of “barrel channel is wrong”, yet when their order was looked up, they got what they ordered. Quite a few- “the in-let depth is too deep/too shallow”- yet all that I have seen were in spec.


Again, I am not saying there haven’t been issues- I am saying it is WAY overblown, and most are people nitpicking and being absolutely unrealistic (the magnifying glass happened).

It's a forum where people discuss things. Nothing is overblown. It's a simple discussion trying to get their stocks to go correctly on their actions.
