I have a new tikka 3tx in 22-250. Finally went to the range today to break in the barrel. Loaded round in chamber pulled trigger and firing pin dropped. Round did not fire. Ejected live round and not a mark on the primer. Manually decocked the bolt and the firing pin looked to be protruding ok.i think there rifles are test fired before they leave the factory but don,t know for sure.all I can think of is a headspace problem. I don,t have a gauge so I will shim the bolt face and see if the bolt will close on a round. I have two other tikkas and love them. Has anyone heard of something like this before?

I once had the same thing, the odd misfire. Turned out to be my front front tally scope mount screw protruding and catching the locking lug. I filed a hair off it and took care of the problem.

I was able to shine a light in and see the screw end in the locking lug recess. Might be worth looking at.

I acted on your suggestion and you were right on. I made a picatinny rail for the action and countersunk the hole a bit too deep. I took some off the screw and the bolt now goes into battery. Your help is much appreciated. All the best.

Ive seen this a couple of times on here. Is it just that the bolt doesnt close all the way, but close enough that you may not notice until no bang?
