What barrel vise are guys running to remove the tikka barrels without damaging them

I used a Davidson, built a mount to go in my truck hitch. Action spun off easy and the vise only left a couple very small marks, hard to notice.

What’s the overall length and weight of that rig? I’ve been thinking of the exact build for a while

So I ordered a 12.5" LOP stock to try and keep things as short as possible. Im at 40" that would be 41" with a standard LOP stock

I was still getting barrel slippage with the lead shims. I read about some really fine powder for grit. I did the trick! Tikka barrels are a pain in the ass to remove!!!

Heres what I ordered

Not many stock options for the A7 its a custom McMillan Game Warden with factory bottom metal. There is a company that makes bottom metal for the A7, I might upgrade that in the future.

did it come painted from McMillan? Definitely a good looking rig but not sure if I’d want to chance a profit on mine being its shoots so good already. How much weight did you save? Thanks for the info.

The McMillan was about a pound lighter than the factory stock. It came painted.

This:

Hot Rat Barrel Vise Instructions

It's actually for the FAL barrel but it fits the Tikka perfect. The 6 bolts torqued to 35lbs will untwist a Brazilian FAL barrel that's tightened to 100lbs +. I've removed several very tight early T3s barrels and not left a mark.

Just swapped a barrel on a stainless tikka after reading a bunch of stuff on here. I bought the FAL barrel vise, a wheeler external action wrench, an internal action wrench to install/torque the new 6.5 GT prefit from Preferred. The barrel came right off. I put a spent case in the chamber of the barrel that was to be removed and had Kroil soaking in for a few weeks while I waited for the barrel vise to arrive. I ordered a go guage but I don't know when it's supposed to arrive, so I loaded up some ammo and sent it.

Can't remember if I posted. I put a Carbonsix 6.5CM barrel on my Tikka, then checked headspaces with go / no-go gauges and everything was perfectly in spec. Removal was a pain for me. Involved relieve cuts with my bandsaw, then still had to use my shop press and barrel vice, and an external barrel wrench.

Now I just need to shoot it...
