I would think this has been covered many times. I've attempted a handful of searches, but come up empty. What are the work arounds for Tikka magazines and COAL issues with the Short/Fats?

I had a T3X in 300 WSM pruned to 19" and really like it as an overall lightweight mountain rambler. But my COAL on a loaded round with 185 Juggernauts is pretty small. Same with my 6.5PRC to function in the factory magazine.

I have a long action bolt stop somewhere, but what magazines work? I am not certain a long action magnum factory magazine is going to feed a Short Fat properly?

I was just in the UM store front yesterday. For Tikka factory, I am not sure there is a plug n play option? Even so it's $220 for bottom metal and another $140 for a magazine? FM

I don't think Hawkins makes a direct Plug n Play. Am I missing anyone?

Hells canyon armory makes a fantastic mag that is compatible with factory bottom plastic/metal and it has shoulder stops so the other rounds in the mag don’t jam the tips on recoil. Under $100.

Best solution I’ve found is take a 6.5 PRC mag (long COAL) and a WSM mag (a bit thicker). I tore them both apart and combined the feed lips/follower of one with the COAL of the other.

Can load 3 up to 3.1”ish inches in a 7 wsm now with reliable feeding. I did have to shave some of the plastic off the inside of a PRC magazine to fit the wsm though. Haven’t had an issue since.

I had feeding issues with all the other aftermarket factory BM options. Just my experience though.

The Hells Canyon mags work well for me on 7 SAUM with 175s/180s loaded to around 3.1" but when I use a CEB lazer 145 loaded to around 3.0" COAL they dont feed worth a shit, the tips jam in the feed ramp. Have a mountain tactical WSM LA that's worse as the bolt rides over the case head frequently and doesn't pick up a round at all. So hells canyon mags might be a decent option if you're loading to 3.1 ish+ COAL for the WSM?

6.5 PRC cases are not as fat as SAUM, WSM, RUM, and 26/28/30 Nosler as they dont have rebated rims thus I'd try the factory long action mags first for 6.5 PRC if you're looking for more COAL.

The long action mountain tactical mags have worked well for my 6.5 PRC with the 156s loaded out to 3.1ish COAL

I am using the Long Action mags from Mountain Tactical for my 338 Sherman Mega. They work great. COAL for my loads are 3.160"-3.225".

I have some HCA mags coming for use in a 6.5 Sherman Max that I am building.

Not to hijack but while we’re on the topic… The 300 WM mags will work fine with 6.5 prc?
