Experiencing a feeding issue with a factory tikka long action magazine (30-06). This has happened both with the factory stock, and the boyds medalist stock I am currently using. The rear of the magazine can be pulled down out of the mag well. The front (where the release clip is) stays in place. When this happens, the bolt does not pick up the next round when cycling. I can physically pull the rear of the magazine down myself at all times loaded or unloaded. Additionally, When the magazine is loaded to capacity and has a +1 in the chamber, the magazine gets forced down. Any ideas for what is going on? It is almost like there is not enough contact on the rear of the magazine and the magwell wall to hold it entirely in place.
I have considered switching to aftermarket mags and metal trigger guard options such as mountain tactical and other similar brands. However, this issue has me considering if I would be better off converting to AICS pattern or if I need to send back to Tikka/get a different rifle.
Any and all feedback is welcome and appreciated. This is my second Tikka. My T3 lite .308 (non "x" model) never had this issue and the magazine sat in place perfectly and could not be pulled out at all so this seems to be a newer issue in my experience.
