Tikka mag issue

I just picked up a used Super Varmint and the mag is very loose in the mag well. Without applying pressure to the bottom of the mag the bolt just slides right over the top of the round. It’s the same with a new Waters 2.6 mag as well. Any suggestions?

Maybe the action was recently out of the stock and the recoil lug isn't correctly clotted into the receiver? Not sure if that would make the mag loose but it might. Can't think of any other simple thing it might be.

I think I figured it out, but now another question. I’m obviously missing the magazine retention spring, but what’s up with this trigger? Is this a factory 2 stage Tikka trigger or something else?

Yep, you are missing the mag retention spring. And, yes, the Super Varmints have a 2-stage trigger.
