Hello, I have a CTR and I can’t stand the huge metal magazine. Does anyone know where I could source a magazine that sits a little more flush? Thanks

I’ve never done it but there are hacks for making ctr bottom metal work with AI pattern mags. Might be able to find a shorter AI pattern mag that would work.

Or trade tour stock, bottom metal, mag for a T3x lite stock, bottom metal, mag. Or varmint /super varmint stock.

I had a CTR I eventually passed on to a family member. That said, these were helpful when I looked to optimize mine:

I too didn't like the long mag sticking out for my hunting situation. Swapped it out to a roughtech tikka stock I picked up on here. Slightly opened the barrel channel, picked up a bottom metal at Mountain Tactical as well as mag clip. I had a Tikka magazine lying around so saved on that. Love the setup. Even removed the tikka rail to lighten it up some.

No need to modify a CTR and go to all that trouble. I modified my stock metal mag to a 5 rounder that sticks out slightly less than the trigger guard. Feeds perfectly.

Looks good. I think I may look for a regular tikka stock and swap over . Either that or go to a custom. I’ve got a proof research carbon barrel on my gun and the barrel is quite thick. I may have to mess with the barrel channel as well.

A CTR and T3/T3x have the same action, just different barrel profile. I have both. The difference is the mag system. The CTR requires this clip

To hold the standard mag in place with standard bottom plastic. The standard T3/T3x bottom metal will fit a CTR stock but will leave gaps on the side. Some have done it and filled in the gap with JB weld or some other. I used a roughtech tikka takeoff because a roughtech has a larger profile barrel than the Lite thus less sanding in barrel channel. Then I installed SS pillars in the stock. Rock solid now.
