Considering a Tikka Compact as a handy lightweight "big woods" rifle for whitetail deer. I read the Rokslide article about making one a lightweight mountain rifle and was intrigued.

I know it is designed for youth and smaller shooters. Any issues with "regular sized" folk shooting it?

I shoot one and I really like it a lot. I am a shorter guy though. With the short stock and a 4” eye relied it makes it real easy for me to get into my scope even with my pack shoulder straps on. For a full size guy you would probably need to scoot your scope as far forward as you could. I think it would work though. My .308 compact has dropped a hog and an 8pt dead in their tracks.

I put one together for my wife, its a great little gun but depending on your size it may feel a bit short. It shoots like all my other tikka's- good!

I'm a normal sized dude and have no issues with the size. In fact I now prefer it. It's quick to shoulder which is especially nice wearing bulkier clothes. The stock comes with a spacer if you need extra length. I have a 2-7x32 Nikon pushed all the way forward using the stock rings and have no problems with eye relief.

I bought one for my son years ago and I love shooting that thing.

I bought one this year in 7mm08 and topped it with a 2-7x Leupold. It's a fun and handy little gun, really a pleasure to shoot. I'm 5'11"/215# and it feels small but not too small if that makes sense.

I worked with some reduced loads with 120 grain ballistic tips and H4895 - good times!
