thinking about doing a tikka build on the MDT HNT 26 stock. Has anyone done one and if so, how did it turn out?

Have you ever shot chassis before? If not, I would suggest doing that first. I had never and found it creates a tuning fork sensation. Too be honest, I wouldn't have gone the chassis road if I had tried it first myself as I dont like that sensation. Might not be as bad with a smaller caliber, but mine was 7 prc. I did a few things to vastly lessen it, like different recoil pad and vertical adjustment, negative comb. Another thought is the folder should go over the bolt side so it's more compact foot print on a pack.

If I do it, it’s probably going to be a 6creedmoor so it won’t be much recoil.

I did it. Lots to love: lightweight, folding stock, integral arca rail.
I did not like the feel, pistol grip stock, LOP or how it recoiled.

I actually went back to a KRG Bravo. Might do another later, but for now I wasn't in love with it.

What was it chambered in? I need to actually hold one in person it sounds like before I commit to it.

That stock looks familiar 😂

Haven’t had a chance to shoot it yet but I really like the grip, with spacers the LOP feels good to me. Probably will not like the recoil impulse compared to my rokstocks, but lower recoil of 22cm should help with that. I won’t use it as a daily driver but for having a compact package with seamless tripod use and decent ergonomics, it should fit the bill. If I can still spot shots and recover within reason it’ll be a winner for me.

So far I like the carbon feel much better than my buddies XLR.

The middle one (green) is a Tikka 7PRC build. The answer is yes… it’d badass. I’ve got a 20” barrel sending factory ELDX and it shoots tight little groups. I’m doing a trigger upgrade in a month or so that should dramatically things, excited about it. It weighs 11lbs63oz with a double pull and suppressor. Money.

Just put my tikka t3x (6.5prc) down in a HNT26 chassis, love it. No problems with the fit. And surprised with how balanced the rifle is.

The black one in the picture above is a 6.5PRC on an impact action and by far my fav hunting rifle. My gosh it’s fun to shoot, and deadly. I’m 14/14 or 16/16 on first shot DRT’s with that rifle, I forget which.

What kind of fluting do you have on your tikka bolt? Or who did it?

I hunt with one in a tikka 6.5prc and then use the same chassis in a 6.5cm for nrl hunter matches. I really like it and it's nice to pack when hunting. Manners new foldable stock looks appealing as well, it also folds against the bolt which I wish the hnt26 did as well.

I’ve had 2 tikka’s in HNT26 chassis, 1st is tikka Superlite in 6.5 creed and second I just got back from the smith a couple months ago and it’s chambered is 6 PRC, I love them for hunting, this was the first chassis I’ve owned and I didn’t find it hard to adjust to at all

One thing that improves the recoil impulse on the HNT 26 considerable is the MDT adjustable butt pad that you can raise up to be above bore centerline.
I’m going to look into that, thanks!

Edit- 0.4lbs yikes that’s a bit heavy for a lightweight chasis

6.5 CM. And definitely fondle one if you can. It really is a great stock, just wasn’t perfect for me. If I really needed a folding stock however, I would have just accepted the minor detractors.

It’s the paint job that makes it! 😂 You’ll have to post up your finished product!

To be fair, I did not try this. How much did you find it to improve the recoil impulse?
