Hello!

I’m currently in the process of updating my Tikka to a Rokslide special in 6 CM.

I’m debating on if I should go with 16.5” or 18” for the barrel length.

Does anyone have experience with these lengths and how it may or may not have affected performance?

I plan on shooting factory 108 ELDMs and keeping my distance to 400 and in.

16” takes you past 500 easily. I have some 16” prefits and am going to get velocity off factory ammo tomorrow.

See EXO experience project hunts killing moose and caribou.

Id like to hear about that... in the same boat planning a 6CM and not convinced to go 16" if shooting factory.

My calcs have a 16” 6CM 108 ELD-M factory loads doing 2760 at the muzz. Thats 1600fps at 788 yards sea level. Or 1800fps 630 yards.

A 16” is plenty long. Cut it to 16”.

16 is plenty. Shory is better unless you need velocity, which you have velocity to spare for your needs.

Yeah splitting hairs there for the most part. The shorter the better especially if you’re running a can. The physical difference in performance most people won’t be able to shoot at distance to see it
