G’day
Over here in Australia there is a thread about the 9.3 ( Tikka T3 ) on a local forum .
It goes back to about 2013 and the guy who started it has documented his kills over the years .
He has shot literally thousands of animals with it getting rid of feral animals on his large cattle property in the far north of Australia.
I highly recommend a look .
If you can find anyone else in this world who has killed more animals with a 9.3 please let me know .

I knew Sako had harder barrels, I didn't know Tikka had hard barrels also. Looks like a barrel nut type of re-barrel if I go the Tikka route. I may just re-barrel a 1968 vintage Savage 110C in 30-06 i have. Or I might just have the Savage barrel re-bored because it has iron sights, if it's thick enough.

Mike
Those old savage rifles are solid! Plus if you already have barrel mounted irons that’s a huge bonus. That’s my one issue with building a Tikka, I’ll have to source good irons and find a gunsmith that will mount them.

More versatile with heavy bullets (250gr plus) as some day I’d like to go to Australia & Africa to hunt buffalo. I don’t have anything against the 35 whelen, it’s just not a chambering I’m interested in.
I was going to tell you that you were crazy until you said this
A Tikka 9.3 is a beast to shoot, but certainly the best carrying one in existence, I know because a mate has one and I helped him get it sorted with a NSX 1-8
10/10 choice for your intended use

Love to hear that! I already have a 300 WM T3 lite that I’ve had for almost 10 years now and I really enjoy shooting it. I’m excited to put a 9.3 together, the guys that use it on the big stuff really seem to love it!

9.3x62 really isn't all that bad. This is my 20" Rem 721, weighing in at a whopping 7lb 7oz shooting 285gn Prvi bullets at 2560fps...... first shots & I'm not going to lie, I was apprehensive.
Very pleasantly surprised, it feels more like a push than a snap.

The 9.3x57 is no slouch either. I load it lighter with 270gr Speers at around 2400. It's purely an up close hog safari rifle for me (I get to pretend it's 1926 & 80lb pigs are 8000lb elephant.........shuttup)

I would not waste a penny to rechamber a Husky. Not a horrible rifle, but what if it doesn't shoot.

I have owned a lot of 9,3x62 Mausers and I currently own a 9,3x64 Brenneke in a Voere 2165 (commercial Mauser 98). Beautiful rifle with a wood hogs back in the powerful 9,3x64.

Couple options.

There are Ruger m77 Mark 2 African's in 9,3x62 available in the USA used.
Lots of Tikka 9,3x62's were imported might be hard to find.
Any 30-06 action could be used, as long as it had the 30-06 bolt face.

Find a pre-fit if you can. I think Shilen, Preferred, and a few others.

www.euroooptics.com has 4 factory 9.3x62 rifles. 3 Mauser m12's and a Sauer 100. From $1200-2800 in stock on their website.

If you are getting the 9.3x57 cheap you can make 9.3x57 ammo with one pass through a 8x57 shell and a lot of lube.
