Cool thank youlook up the "chopped magnums" thread there are some guys in there that have. I wouldn't sweat it as long as you have a can rated for it.
ive got a scythe bought I'm waiting to come in so unfortunately for me over the barrel suppressor is out and I wanna keep the length down as short as I can for backpack hunting and any loss in weight is just fine as well with me. im not to scarred of the FPS loss as it would still carry a pretty decent amount of spreedI have a tikka 7 Rem Mag and I had it threaded to add a muzzle break (I cant use suppressors in CA) But even If I could I wouldn't cut down the barrel. First I wouldn't want to give up the loss in FPS and I don't like the look of the shorter barrels. If I were to go with a suppressor I would leave the barrel stock and go with an over the barrel suppressor (used a similar setup to that in New Zealand and loved it)
awesome thank you for your helpThis thread has your answer
Post #64 is my 20" 7rem mag results
Hello,
I have a Tikka T3x Lite in a 7mm Rem Mag. I have been wanting to cut it down to a 20” barrel because I am going to be running it suppressed.
I know I will loose velocity, but I am currently getting 3000+ FPS out of the factory 24” barrel and I think the lessened velocity with be manageable. I am concerned about overall noise and muzzle flash when not shooting suppressed.
Has anyone ever done anything like this with a magnum caliber?

that's pretty tempting. I'm trying decide between a tikka t3x 7 rem mag and a t3x 6.5 prcI cut down my t3x lite 7 rem mag to 20” and run a evo harvester on it with no issues.
For what it is worth, I kind of wish my 7mag was a 6.5 prc.that's pretty tempting. I'm trying decide between a tikka t3x 7 rem mag and a t3x 6.5 prc
I like my 7mm and have the most confidence in it but I know the 6.5 will do the job just as well so I will likely load it up with 156 Bergers and chop the barrel on itFor what it is worth, I kind of wish my 7mag was a 6.5 prc.
I only bought the 7 because it was on sale at the time. It recoils a fair bit more for the exact same ballistics as my other 6.5mm
