So I was in gun shop this past late summer. Was kind of looking for a 6.5 prc. They had none left...sale. But had the tikka t3x superlight in the 6.5 cm. Coyote color. Ended up buying it. Plan was to do some target shooting with it etc. Mounted a scope but have yet to fire it. I like the short 20 in barrel and overall feel. Yet...wouldn't mind using for hunting as well so still have the hankering for the prc. Thought about selling that cm and getting same exact gun in prc off eurooptics.. The prc has the 24 in barrel. Anyone have this gun and can attest for balance and feel? How does it shoot? thanks

Spend some time in the firearms section of the forum. There's a ton of information regarding Tikka rifles in every configuration you could imagine.

I have a 20" factory Tikka barrel on my 6.5cm and it is deadly out to 950 yards with factory ammo. Being that I dont shoot animals out to 950 and a PRC shoots the same exact bullets as my creed, I would gain nothing by switching to a PRC. Neither would you. You dont need a new rifle. Just go buy or load more ammo for your creed, practice more and go hunt.

What bullets are you shooting? Maybe if you are shooting monos, a PRC woukd benefit you but I doubt it.

thanks for thoughts. I haven't decided yet on loads. I don't reload..yet. Was thinking eldx off hand maybe?
What's your maximum range? I bet you would be good out past 650 yards with factory loaded 143gr ELDX.

Figure out your maximum hunting distances, then run the velocity numbers with your projectile of choice and see if the creedmoor will give you what you need. (99% chance it will)
The 6.5 creedmoor gets a bad rap for hunting and I dare say most of it is because there are clowns who have just started shooting, think that theyre chris kyle or Bob Lee swagger at the range, so they take their ego into the field and they end up wounding animals because they suck at shooting from field positions.
Logically speaking the 6.5x55 and 260 have been killing sh!t for decades and all 3 are pretty much ballistically identical.

Ya I agree. Good points. I’ve always been a 400 yd and in guy but I’d like to do 500. I don’t think I’m comfortable past that ethically. Yet. Maybe this cm is fine for deer, antelope, bear inside 5.
