I’m looking to rebarrel a 300 win mag tikka rifle and cannot decide on a chambering. Has anyone ever successfully gotten a prefit in 26 27 or 28 nosler to work in an tikka? Also pretty interested in 300, 325 wsm. Already have tons of 338 win mag brass and components so that makes the most sense. Zero interest in 6.5 or 7 prc.

I’d go with a 300wsm. It’s perfect for a tikka when ran as a long action. I had my daughter’s Tikka factory barrel throated for 215 Bergers and had them going 2950 with great accuracy but decided she didn’t need that much oompf so it’s now shooting 200.20x Bergers at 2960 and recoil is actually very manageable with a brake and limbsaver.

What did you end up doing? I’m thinking buy tikka 300wm and get a carbon barrel in 338win

Good plan. I’ve been thinking of doing a .338 of some type with a 300 win tikka barreled action I have. Either 338 win, 33 Nosler or 338 RCM. The 300 win tikka doesn’t have any compatibility with other 300 win mags I have due to action and mag length leaving a lot on the table for the cartridge. I originally snagged it to build a 6.5 PRC but Eurooptic sent me in a different direction 🤣

To the OP:
As stated by others - WSM’s, SAUM’s and PRC’s (sans 300) are where it’s at for magnum bolt faced Tikkas.
