So I’ve got a tikka t3x ordered and should be this week and looking to see what all everyone is doing with theirs for inspiration.

I’ve got a vertical grip and forend locked in by a member of the Slide. I’m thinking about ordering one of the SRS arca + pic rails and moding out the forend to make it fit.

I’m thinking about making my own comb riser to give a negative comb. My funds are limited to buy 2 rokstoks so trying to make some similar so I’ll have stocks fairly close in ergos.

I want to get a trigger spring but my question is are they all made equal? Is there a preferred spring?

What other mods or upgrades are you all doing to your tikka training/hunting rigs? I’ll like hunt with this gun too when I’m not training but ultimately my 6.5 build out with a RokStok will be my main hunting rifle once it’s finally built.

How closely will your trainer duplicate your hunting rifle? My trainer is set up almost exactly like my hunting rifles. That way when I switch between rifles the muscle memory persists.

I’m trying to get it pretty dang close. I know I need it to be as identical as possible. I’m hoping once the rokstok ordered open I can be fast enough to get on the list and that will hold my main hunting rig. I’ve had the idea of putting the 223 action in it and then if I get some tags switching it over to the hunting rig close to the season starting so I can get it dialed in and some reps before I hunt. There’s no way my wife will pleased with me if I get 2 rokstoks so for the sake of my back and being able to sleep in my bed.. I’ll be stuck with one haha.

I’m thinking about getting an additional swfa scope in a fixed power but unsettled on 10x or wait to see if they come out with a gen 2 6x.

I like the UM rings instead of a rail. I have a couple sets. Less bolts means less troubles.
I’m totally with you on less hardware. Do you find not having any moa built in an issue? Last I checked they didn’t have rings that build in any angle?
I’d plan on shooting the trainer a ways out there.

Agreed they are a solid product. A rail gives you a bit more flexibility for ring position depending on your scope. I’ve really liked the UM rings on the tikka actions I have them on and will stay with those despite running rails on all my 700 footprints.

I'm thinking of doing the same, I only wish tikka or a similarly priced rifle was available with with a 7 twist barrel.

I'm looking for a 24 inch CTR in 223 but haven't found one yet. Been a while since I've had a tikka and excited about the fun to come.

I'll top it with a 5-25 PST II that I happen to have. While the stock is likely serviceable I'll be looking at a vertical grip CF from stockeys or AG. I'll then shorten the original stock as I have grands that will be shooting age soon.

Full tilt will be an AG stock and ream it to an AI chamber.

Will mimic my big stick.

I may go hole hog with a manners CS2 allowing me to go from adult to youth sized seamlessly but that's another tax braket.Screenshot_20250118_113131_Gallery.jpg

That sounds like a great build. I’ve read some really great things about the stockys vg hunter and it’s on the list for the future.

I’ve also been thinking about turning this into an AI but that will defeat some purpose of being cheap to shoot and I’ll be locked in to reloading. Maybe in the future though! When I have more time to fire form a boat load of brass.

Many AIs including two that I've had shot really well with fire forming and even factory ammo.

This is a 20 round group after a little break in fire forming a 22-250AI with 69 grain SGKs.
