What functions the best, the stock 6 round mag or the one sold by Ascension ?

From what you can read around here, the .223 6-round magazines have issues for a lot of people. I don’t know about the Ascension ones.

I really like the Waters magazines. The NDR ones are well-regarded as well.

If I was you, I would use the search function for Ascension and see what folks report.

The stock ones are a hit or miss. I had 2 and one was ok and the other was worthless. The Ascension mags don’t come with springs so unless you already have some factory mags to steal the spring out of you will need to buy factory mag and the Ascension body. I would look into the NDR mags, I have had great success with them.

What functions the best

CTR mags are the gold standard for Tikka 223. AICS are good for functionality, but many require some modification to gain more COAL. Not a huge deal, but not as good as a double stack CTR right out of the package.

If I were starting out from scratch with a 1:8 223 Tikka sporter, I'd go KRG Bravo for CTR mags. Or, if the Brsvo didn't fit my sensibilities, I'd go either OEM or aftermarket inlet for CTR bottom metal. I have run the Waters and they functioned well, but I'd much rather put that money towards CTR mags.
