Before I pull the trigger on a new rifle has anyone had any experience shooting this particular ammo in their tikka ? reason being is I can get a lot of this ammo for next to nothing and would be great to shoot with reasonable accuracy for cheap as factory ammunition where I am is outrageously expensive. Information on this would be greatly appreciated. ( Even a recommendation on a rifle that will eat this ammo would be considered)

Cheers.

I’ve not ever had excellent results from FMJ ammo, but some of it has been serviceable for range-only use. The Tikka will likely shoot it as good or better than any other rifle. The cheapest that I see that ammo on AmmoSeek is $0.50/round. If you have an opportunity to buy, “…a lot… for next to nothing…”, I’d jump on it! It wouldn’t be the first time that I bought a rifle because I had a bunch of cheap ammo. 😁

Exactly my thoughts! Just on the fence with the purchase as I could potentially get a cheaper rifle that will shoot this ammo roughly the same Like a Ruger American ranch for example. This ammo will likely be the only ammo I will use for this rifle and seems like a waste of a tikka feeding it this stuff for the rest of its life.

I have not fired that particular load, but I would be shocked if that ammo does not shoot well in your Tikka. The 55- and 69-grain loads shoot very well in my 1:9” T3 and my 1:8” AR.

For that matter, so does the Frontier 5.56 62-grain ammo.

what kind of groups are you getting with these loads ?

Factory 20” tikka 223 loves the ADI 55gr @3108fps. Sub 1” 10 shots group consistently at 100yds. The 69s were very much like the 73gr hornady match ammo. Descent but more in the 1.5” range and slightly under. Can you get the 55s cheap? I know a guy that would love to buy a mess of them😍

Unfortunately the only ammo that I will have access too for cheap is the ADI F1 62 Grain 5.56 NATO outside of that I will have to get factory options from the store. it feels weird trying to figure out what rifle to buy for the ammo that I have, But if i get the right one ill never have to worry about spending stupid amounts of money on ammo again!

I don’t know what qualifies as very cheap, but I would happily use that ammo if I could get it cheap. It’s slightly more expensive than the Frontier I can get over here.

I use the ADI .223 69-grain because it matches the trajectory on my primary hunting rifle a bit closer than the super fast 5.56.

Are you saying you already have the tikka? If so why would you buy another rifle? Or maybe I am misunderstanding.

No i don't have the tikka, just trying to gauge how one would shoot with a particular kind of ammo I have access to. Seeing if anyone had any experience with this ammunition in their tikka essentially
