Tikka 22-250 1 in 8 twist with light bullets?

I have a AR10 in 22-250 1 in 8 twist shoots sub MOA with factory 55 grain Federal with Nosler Varmint bullets. With my thermal so I figure you fine.

Yea I think that should work for coyotes. Yea doesn’t really make sense to me that it would shoot the lighter bullets better than the 55 grains. But I’ve heard that from a couple people. So who knows

Fast twists not shooting lighter bullets is a myth.

Faster the better. The 8 twist is the correct twist. If only Tikka fast twisted everything. What a dream that would be.

My tikka 22-250 shoots factory 55vmax great. Didn’t like like 52 grain hornady bthp but loves 53grain hornady flat base hollow points. That’s my fur friendly coyote load. I have some 69 grain TMK and 75 grain eldm to work a load up for for the daughter to shoot through the summer.

Just curious, how did the 69grain TMK’s do? I’m picking a 250 up today and have a bunch of those bullets.

I ended up finding a bunch of 77tmk so shot them instead

Gotcha. We’ll I just got the rifle and a ton of factory nosler and hornady ammo just for the brass. I didn’t realize that quality 250 brass was hard to find.

Just picked up the 1:8 250 the other day and got the barrel threaded right away. Feel like I’m commuting a sin by putting a vortex on it but it’s a razor and all I had laying around.

Couldn’t find decent brass around so I stocked up on the factory nosler 55 grain and hornady 50 grain rounds. Will load up some heavies after I shoot this stuff up.

This is my first Tikka and had never been on my radar until joining the slide. I’ll admit that I’m not a fan of the stock. Defiantly going to get a spray paint job haha. Will probably get a KRG down the road.

Get the vertical grip piece. Changes the stock substantially.

Also if you get some of that stretchy medical tape and get some neoprene foam you can build up a cheek weld.

Yes. They will not stabilize.

My Tikka 22-250 shot the 50 grain VMAXs very nicely. That rifle and bullet combo killed around 1,000 coyotes from 2016-2019.

Here are velocities with factory Superformance ammo after 200 round barrel break in.
