I went with the seven and have no regrets, I think it’s a perfect size for hunting. I think a nine would be a little long and the Dominus was a little fatter than what I would prefer on the end of my Barrett Fieldcraft , Especially when I take my zoom all the way out to two power you would definitely see it through your scope.

I ordered an ultra 7. The dominus seems awesome but it looks like it’s not made for direct thread (maybe I’m wrong?). I’m really not into having big attachment things on my guns.

The Ultra 7 suppresses great for hunting use; I see no need for anything bigger/heavier in a backcountry hunting context. For range competition, where inches and ounces don't matter much, sure go bigger and quieter. But if you'll truly be in the backcountry, I (personally) wouldn't go bigger than the 7.
The dominus is as light and shorter than the Ultra 7 right? I have the Dominus and it's 6.5 inches and 10.5 oz WITH the CB brake adapter. A direct thread just has the CB basically permanently installed to can.

So does the CB mount require one to leave something attached to the rifle barrel?

It doesn't require leaving the CB on the barrel but that's probably the common install/use pattern. Putting a separate CB on each barrel is probably the usual way.
I locktite mine in the can and spin it on other barrels like a direct thread, unless I need to adapt to smaller threads than 5/8, then that barrel would have its own CB attached.
Area 419 makes a nice system for the Dominus but I haven't seen a need for it yet.

The CB would be on the barrel in a typical install, but TBAC will permanently install it in the muffler for you turning it into a direct thread.
Interesting. If I’d known that I may have gone with a dominus over the ultra 7 I ordered. I’m still cool with the ultra 7 but the dominus has my interest.

Buy the Dominus too, its only money! Ultra 7 is tough to beat for most uses.
I’m just might, right now I’m sort of interested in the ultra 5 for my short barreled ultra light 308. But the dominus is getting closer to the ultra 5 so it may be the play.

I've shot the 5 and wasn't impressed vs the cost and wait time. I'd go Dominus 100% if it were me.
What weren’t you impressed by? Was it just much louder than you thought it would be? I supppose it’s 2oz lighter than the 7 but that 2” is appealing. It makes sense that it just might not be a very high “bang for the buck” product.

It was louder than I thought it would be, WAAAAAAAY better than nothing for sure. But if it's my money changing hands I feel like there's better value in a Dominus or 7. If I had paid $1300+ for a 5 all in, I'd have regretted it. If a 5 was the first can I'd ever heard in person, I'd be impressed.

I have a 9 and a 338 Ultra so I'm kinda spoiled with great noise suppression.

Thanks, I’m shooting a banish 30 right now but I’ve been able to try and listen to a few others. My thought with the 5 is like you said, much better than nothing. I have the ultra 7 and a dead air mask 22 on order. Already looking ahead to the next one. Seems that between the banish 30 and an ultra 7 the dominus is probably a nice change up.

I have a 7 and 9. Use the 7 all the time, 9 rarely. Honestly in a hunting situation, I can’t really tell the difference in sound attenuation. I know the 9 meters better but I can’t tell it in practice. They both sound really good.

I believe that if you ordered the Ultra 7 as a direct thread, it will have the CB mount permanently installed in it, just like the Dominus.

I went with the Dominus for my lightweight 7 SAUM rifle, it works great and the elk seem to like it too....

I’m leaning towards that can, it seems to have a good amount of suppression for the form factor. Is this the only suppressor you have experience with? I’d like to know how it compares to others. Db scale is hard to follow because it’s not exactly linear so the numbers are rather misleading. I’m concerned that I will see can in my scope, considering the larger diameter relative to the ultra series.
