Thread adapter question for suppressors

I’ve got a dead air nomad Ti XC with the 5/8x24 mount that I run on a 7PRC and other rifles that have this threading.

I plan to purchase a 22 ARC that will come threaded 1/2x28. What is the best way to attach my suppressor? Should I buy an adapter like this one? Or should I spend the extra money and get the dead air 1/2x28 direct thread hub adapter? Is swapping out the hub adapters a PIA to switch rifles?

Thanks for the help.

Get the hub adapter and call it a day. Now it can work on anything you want. No need to add another variable into it with an adapter. I've personally had one that was so far off it would have blown my can off if I didnt test it with a rod first.

The adapter you linked is just fine. Clean the muzzle threads and inside threads on the adapter with brake cleaner or alcohol, put Roksett on the muzzle threads and screw the adapter on. After it dries overnight, thread the suppressor on and check for vote clearance- this is just a precaution. Now it’s done and you can swap the can back and forth without issue.

What form said only I'd verify everything is lined up before roksetting. Id get a 1/2 to 5/8" adapter rather than getting a different hub so it's just a screw can off, screw can on ordeal and you can leave one hub in place and not have to mess with carbon locked DT hub adapters. Less onerous moving the can around that way and its cheaper. win/win.

That was my concern with the hub adapter swap was it being carbon locked and difficult to easily and readily swap out. Was hoping someone would comment on that. Thanks wind gypsy!

Thanks Form. Is there an adapter you prefer or recommend instead of that one? I just found that one in a different thread and see good reviews. I see some suppressor companies make them as well.

That one will be fine. I have used a bunch from Amazon as well.

Was it the adapter that was that shitty? That's pretty wild. Helps that he's putting a 30 cal can on a 22 cal rifle in this situation but I'd assume a guy still wants the can concentric with the bore.

We have never been a fan of thread adapters. Seen way too many concentricity issues with them.

We usually recommend the Plan B/Rearden pattern of mount. Simple, effective, and a huge variety of options for muzzle devices in any number of thread pitches. Having the taper ahead of the threads prevents any carbon locking issues.

Rearden Atlas or Diligent Defense Zilch (limits you to shorter muzzle devices) on the suppressor then your choice of muzzle device on each barrel with the correct thread pitch and done. Makes swapping the can between rifles a breeze and don’t have to worry about putting a thread protector back on like you do with going direct thread.

Muzzle Devices

We have a few choices for muzzle devices on hand, been hard to get with lead times being multiple months from Rearden.

Lots of other manufacturers out there offering this pattern of muzzle device.

ETA: Other solid options for mounts out there too. Dead Air Xeno, Griffin Plan A, YHM is good but HEAVY, Area 419. Generally avoid Keymo, tons of concentricity issues, to the point it will void the warranty on the suppressor from some manufacturers.

How can companies not make a muzzle thread adapter concentric, but they can make muzzle devices adapters concentric?

Terrible QA/QC. See tons of Temu thread adapters out there made to who knows what thread spec.

Can they work? Absolutely, but better options exist.

From an engineering standpoint threads and a taper are better than threads and a square shoulder for ensuring alignment. The taper also provides a better gas seal.

At first I didn't know. I had a new M70 cut and threaded at the gun smith. It had to be 1/2" due to the sporter profile and my AB has a 5/8" reflex section so I needed it upsized to 5/8". They threw a shitty 1/2 to 5/8 adapter on there. I decided to check, thankfully, and I couldn't get my alignment rod through the can and into the bore.

I took it off and ordered an AB 5/8 adpater and it was perfect. So at least they didn't screw up the thread job. I don't use that "gunsmith" anymore. I since traded it for an old 1953 in 270 with stock iron sights so I won't be suppressing that one which sucks.

But the adapter against the square barrel muzzle shoulder is fine? Seems like an easy solution - dont buy temu adaptors?

My relatively limited experience from when i had 1 can i wanted to swap around using the area419 system is that those allegedly superior adapters caused more issues than they solved. I don't swap them around much anymore, i just buy more cans. Just kind of hate for people to think they should buy a new hub interface for every can and a typically heavy/expensive adapter that usually extends cans out further for every barrel.
