Thoughts on the Nikon EDG Fieldscope

Anyone using this spotter or have used it in the past. How does it compare to the alpha glass? A few floating around for a decent price.

Really looking at the 65mm EDG.

Probably have better luck on the bird forums with respect to those particular spotters.

The EDG line for whatever reason seems to have a much greater following in the online birding communities compared to the Rokslide community.

I can’t speak to the edg fieldscope but I bought a Nikon ed50 fieldscope and love it. I went from a vortex razor 20-60x80 and it’s much better than that in my opinion. I went with the upgraded eyepiece 13-40 and it’s very clear even at max zoom. My razor was always blurry at anything above 30-35ish. And I love how light it is. I definitely wouldn’t say it’s on par with my bosses Swarovski spotter but it weighs a quarter of what his weighs so it will always be with me instead of left at the truck like most big spotters. Hope this gives you some confidence in Nikon. Very underrated brand for optics in my opinion now that I’ve owned one. Good luck.
