Thoughts on GMC Canyon vs Ford Maverick

Those are not really comparable vehicles. The GMC Canyon would be comparable to a Ford Ranger or a Toyota Tacoma. The Maverick is really a small car with a truck bed. It’s only directly comparable competitor would be the Hyundai Santa Cruz, maybe the Honda Ridgeline.
The Maverick only has a 4.5ft bed I believe, so with todays SUVs and Crossovers, not sure what gap the Maverick really fills? For its capability a small SUV would at least provide you with lockable climate controlled storage versus an open 4.5 ft bed.

They need to make a single cab maverick with a real size bed.

The current Ranger is a sweet truck. My wife has one and calls it her "Adventure Ranger". I set it up with Yakima racks so she can haul her kayaks up top. The bed is carpeted and has a roll-top bed cover.

The 2023 Ranger (Gen 5) looks like it will be even better from what I've seen.

How is it off-road? I’ve had a couple people tell me it doesn’t much suspension travel making it uncomfortable.

My dad has a maverick, it's great for what it is. Good gas mileage, awd, 4 doors, enough ground clearance for most dirt roads and a small bed to throw dirty/bloody things in. Let's be honest most people driving around in pickups aren't towing or hauling a ton of weight anyway

I don't know about maximum suspension travel for extreme stuff, that's not how she uses it.

She drives it to trailheads, up dirt roads with nasty potholes and some washboard-type stuff. I think it's one of the most comfortable vehicles I've ever driven in those conditions. In fact, I was thinking about buying myself one just for hunting due to how comfortable it rides. My son (15 years old) has a 2010 Tacoma TRD Off-Road and I think the 2019 Ranger rides better.

That’s all I would be expecting out of it, and thanks for the Tacoma comparison.

I wouldn’t buy a maverick I don’t see the point of them like other people were saying. My uncle has a canyon that uses as his run around truck and took hauling truck on the farm/around town and I don’t think he’s had any problems with it.
