What do y’all who use trekking poles do when heading out for the day? Do you pull your trekking poles and take them with you leaving your tent collapsed?

If know I will be using the trekking poles each day I will cut and use sticks as my pole or carry in a pole for the tent and not use the trekking poles. In most cases I don’t use trekking poles until I have a load to haul. If I have a spike camp I take minimal stuff in the pack and the trekking poles are not needed so they stay holding up the tent.

Not sure yet, but I ordered the CF pole for my Cimarron. It is light and much stronger than trying to lash the 2 trekking poles together. I do like Beendare's method as long as I am camping where there is proper felled wood.

-my tipi sets up with one trekking pole + a small extension. So when I have camp on my back Im hiking using two poles.

-When im out hunting I then just use one, which also has 1/4 to threaded insert so that I can put my binos, or a rifle rest on it.

Thanks guys. I am contemplating going with a MLD Duomid set up. I never have used trekking poles for my hunting days but thought they might be nice for long days going up and down a lot. I usually keep them on my pack but figured I might as well use them to help my knees and hips.

For my bigger mids I use a designated CF pole, but for 1-2 person mids, I’ll typically use my trekking poles in an A-frame configuration, and just pull them out to use them (leaving the shelter staked to the ground), for day excursions away from spike camp.
