I know many of us likely spend a good deal of time in some sort of gym. I myself have enjoyed being a bit of a gym rat for the last 15 years or so. I typically go at the same time each day between 5 and 5:30am and spend an hour to an hour and a half 3-5 days a week. I have also gone in the middle of the day "Covid years" and also in the evening which IMO is the worst time to go for myself. Now over the past 15 years I have spent north of 3000 hours in the gym and I have seen some crazy stuff and thought I would put together a thread to see what others have experienced.
Over the years as I said I have seen some stuff most notably I once was in the gym with ~10 or so others and this guy that had been throwing around way too much weight for his condition decided to put over 700 lbs on a squat rack. Now this guy was 300+ pounds but that was mostly just his build and not a lot of muscle.
As soon as he lifted the bar and it cleared the rack all 700 pounds came crashing down on him and landed on top of his chest. Myself and 3 others rushed over to lift the bar off of him and to try to assess his condition. He was in bad shape but refused to have EMS called and the gym owner was against it and likely didn't want legal troubles. When I left about 30 minutes later he was still on the floor but had begun to try and get up. I never saw that guy again so I have no clue what happened to this day.
Another thing I have noticed over the years are men and women forming some sort of relationship in the gym. You will see them begin to workout together after a few weeks of honest chat and play they will arrive in the same car at the gym ect ect. Then in almost 80% of those cases you stop seeing them for a couple of months and then one will return but not the other looking like they had been thrown in the wash.
I am currently watching this play out at the moment, I hope it works out for them but I'm betting not.
Curious what others have seen.
