I drew an Antelope tag and will be hunting around Casper first week of October. Should be there from Sunday to Friday, camping at Alcova reservoir. Hopefully doesn't take me that long to get one and looking for other things to do within a couple hours of Casper. Planning to take fly rod and spinning rod for trout fishing, open to suggestions on where to go. This will be my first trip out of state hunting so any advice is welcome.

There's a taxidermy museum in town. Basically some "dead rich guys" collection. Neat stuff.

There's a natural history museum right next door. I learned about the extinct American Cheetah and how it pressed the American Pronghorn to evolve into what it is today. Lots (lots) of cool dinosaur bones...and rocks.

I think it was west of town there's a deep canyon with unusual formations that the anthropologists allege was used as a bison drop.

Everyone and I mean everyone will be at the high school football stadium on Friday night. You should go creep around in full camo.

Rocky Mountain discount sports is a fun hunting/gun shop in Casper.

If you want an experience drive over to Jeffrey City and check out the Split Rock Bar and Cafe. It maybe the most dive bar in the West.

Generally I’d probably focus mostly on fishing the North Platte and its reservoirs.

Independence Rock is half an hour west of Alcova. If you played Oregon trail as a video game it’s a cool spot, otherwise it’s a rock.

Yes!

I forgot about this one.

Best gun store I've been too.

I still feel sorry for the brand new MDT HNT26 that was fugged from people snapping the folding stock. Hope someone didn't unknowingly buy it.

I was shocked at how well stocked the reloading section was.

I'd never seen trapping supplies in a brick and mortar store either.

Freeze dried candy was new to me and was a great trip gift for my kids.

They have camo lingerie too.
