Never had a mono, looking for one for that would be suitable in the steep and deep terrain and vegetation. Or is this a dumb idea? Detection at distance would be ideal.

Anything to look for, and what brands to avoid? Not sure on budget, as I don't want that to factor decision-don't want junk or outdated technology.

I picked up a Flir Scion PTM336 on sale for $700, which was like $2k off of MSRP, and think it works great. Flir often has markdowns when they discontinue products.

I have a Pulsar and an iRay. Satisfied with both. My only suggestion is to try and get a 640 pixel if you can swing it financially.

NocPix has some monoculars for a good price. I have a Pulsar Telos 640 that has been awesome. Started with a Burris 384 unit and the difference is well worth the price for a 640 unit.

I started with a mono. Switched to bino and like it much better. Wear it in bibo pouch and feels “normal.” I have the pulsar 640
