Thermal Hunting And Laser for Recovery

Curious if/how guys are using lasers while Thermal predator hunting.

I would like to use a laser for game recovers, post shot. Since lasers don’t get picked up on thermal, How are guys aiming the laser to the downed animal?

Are you just setting your laser to match your zero of your scope? With the understanding further out you may have a few inches of variation?

I find them all using my scanner. No laser required.

Yeah - I think ultimately that’s the way to go.. I just already have a laser, and monoculars are spendy

I know it’s an unpopular opinion, but I tell everyone a scanner is more useful than a rifle scope. You can still kill with a light. If you have limited funds you will be much better served with a scanner and rifle mounted light.

Thermal hunting without a scanner is like going out deer/elk hunting without binoculars.

I had my first chance at looking through the expensive night vision spotter my rancher buddy just bought- all I can say is wow.

Agreed. Best I’ve been able to do is WiFi connect my phone mounted on top of the scope and pan the field with the Rifle. I think a monk is my next buy.
