The Teratorn: A Shoot2Hunt X EXO Bag Collab

I am in need of a new bag for my k4, undecided if I need this or just a plain 5000. 🤔 The more I look at this pack the more I think I like it. 😂

I guess I am missing something then. Not sure I'd use it anyway.
Seems like they aren't shipping with cord inside the lids, mine doesn't have any either. Just the loops.

I'll probably take what's on top of the lid and run it inside if there's enough length.

Mine also didn't come with a set of locking buckles that Exo normally sends with their bags.

Can we confirm what is supposed to be included? Details differ between regular k4 and the shoot2hunt site, but I assume l a locking buckle and shock cord should be included?

My bag is ordered and on the way but just want to ensure I know what to expect when it gets here thanks! @Ryan Avery @ExoMtnGear @Shoot2Hunt

My pack should be here Monday.

When not hand carrying rifle is the “go-to” to have it stored under one of the bat wings or are you guys using one of the several different “quick sling” type deals?
It depends. Traveling a long ways i have mine under the wing pocket, protected better that way. I have a Kifaru gunbearer when it's touch and go time. Hope that helps

You need this one. The horseshoe zipper of the 5000, with side pockets for all of your need-it-now gear. This pack is much quicker to access gear out of. Doing my part to help you spend your money lol.

When I need to be able to quickly access the rifle, I use a SG rifle slug bottom, and the chest strap goes around the barrel.

Are you mounting the SG bottom to the Nalgene holder then just simply running the barrel up under your arm? I feel like the rifle would have a tendency to want to flip and turn as it already does that to me even when attached to the upper bag strap, unless i torque the hell out of it.

I’ve had good success in regards to holding a rifle on the exo with the SG bottom and the kifaru gun bearer shoulder strap for quick access. Then for long walks with a gun, between the wing and in the pocket are my new go to. Really excited about the new pack. Love the horseshoe zipper and wings.

Mark at EXO Ryan Avery should there be a bungie in the lower lid compartment? Mine does not, and this thread seems to have mixed positions on if it should or should not. Thx

All of the Teratorn lids have shipped without shock cord inside the lid, which was a S2H decision made in advance of production. The loops are still there, so shock cord can be added if desired.

I can't speak to that decision, as I wasn't involved. But that is the info I have from our team.

@Mark at EXO, thanks. Was just making sure.

There are no auto-locking buckles and no shock cord inside the lid.

Thats a great write up. I hadn't considered the single zipper on most of the bag. I wouldn't be packing food or camp at all, we usually hunt out of a wall tent. The full use of the teratorn would be 10% use of the 90% that I would use it.

This will turn into me owning both bags eventually... sigh
Happy to help!

After receiving my Teratorn, I'm very happy with how well it all compresses with the extra material, and love the lower access to the bag so I can throw in a jacket and/or glass/misc and have quick access when the wings are folded up.

The Teratorn itself is pretty much the same weight as the 7200 and 5000 with wing bags, so you're definitely only getting meaningful weight savings with the 3200, or better yet 2200.

Just an FYI, I put my R3 wing bags up for sale in the classifieds if you are going that route.

For reference, a couple shots of the new bag all compressed.

that looks extremely slick for a day pack if needed.

Is the lid different or the same same as a standard K4 lid?
It's the exact same lid, just has small loops sewn into the top and inside for shock cord if desired.

If you don't want it on there, the loops are tiny and inconsequential.

I think so as well.

I had the idea that I needed the smallest pack possible for an intended use, or maybe have two options for day packs and longer hunts. But after going from a 3600 to a 5000, then the 5000 to this, they all compress down so well that I really don't see the downside in just going with a large enough bag and using for everything that I'd be taking a frame pack for.

At the end of the day, this pack weights a hair over a pound more than the 3600 while being far more flexible for my preferences. I don't want to carry needlessly heavy items, but even when not utilized, an extra pound on my hips is nothing and I'm going to lose more body weight than that on the first morning anyway.

But that just may be my western-backpack-hunting ignorance talking :ROFLMAO:

But in all seriousness.. 😂

Little size comparison of bags. K4 3600, teratorn and k3 6400. Teratorn fits significantly more than the 3600 while the base bag is not much bigger. (1st pic is the 3600 overlaid on the Teratorn). With the bag full and wings full it’s a good bit wider. It is smaller in size than the 6400 yet seems like it would fit the same because of the wings and way you can organize it. Teratorn feels like the perfect later season pack and pack for people with not super light/packable gear that needs just a little more space even for shorter trips. The Teratorn layout in 3600 bag size would be my one do it all pack 👀
