I have the V2, took a cpl days to get used to it but after that I really like it. Muzzle can ride in front or behind. Not excited about the V3 and that new stock holder.
Agree with the sentiment on the “upgrade”.
I posted previously that I got online to order the original model only to find there was a new model.
I contacted the owner with my observations about the open end the the butt of the stock possibly kicking out and the bracket rubbing on the stock. He assured that it is all good and the bar has some padding on it and the stock will not kick out. Pretty sure he is thinking that the cam lock design pushes down and sorta locks the stock in place. No way I am buying that as to me these are design flaws and I don’t like the idea of something rigid clamping and abrading the stock etc.
I have one of the older versions. It is overall good very good, however I don’t like how low the butt stock hangs down. It hits first when I sit down. It’s also not very comfortable to have an arca/pic section poking you in the back of your shoulder, but that’s not the fault of the sling. The slik sling came in clutch this season for me. I screwed up my knee and I was able to have my hands freed up to use my trekking poles. I could still get with it and fill some tags.
absolutely love mine. quick access to the rifle and never had an issue with it falling out or slipping of my shoulder. I usually have my gun in a rifle cover and can still use the slick sling
Thanks for all your replies gents. I have no direct experience with it myself, just a recommendation from an acquaintance. I don't think I care for the V3 just by looks and watching some vids, though I do like the concept of the Slik Sling itself. I'm getting into hunting and am still struggling with gear and my pack and slinging my rifle, I'm just trying to dial in what I am using. Learning has a curve and I'm on it. For now I've got an improvised slik sling rigged up with a shemagh for the cradle and a bungee loop up top for barrel retention. Now I just need to test it in the field.
