I had heard not about the 1000, 3000, and 5000 round test mentioned in the podcast but suspected that it was Triji as they have/had the technical knowledge and expertise to design relevant tests.

Sure enough, I see it mentioned on their website but I don't recall them advertising it in the past. Just drop testing.

What is not clear is whether this 1000, 3000, 5000 test is design verification/validation or part of a sampling plan. Does anyone have that information?

FWIW, SIG does live fire tests, at least with some optics. That is public information.

Another optic company started a drop test program back in 2021/2022. That's not public info, so I can't disclose the name, but I have not seen/heard much since.

I would just like to say that while I have yet to listen to this episode, I think it's a great podcast. As usual, Avery is funny AF. I don't know what sets it apart from Avery Adventures except the higher production quality but I am really enjoying it. And this is coming from a guy who is able to be a critic of almost everything.

Are the scopes that are coming out of zero after the drop test coming out so far that they’re out of their cone of dispersion?

I’ve not been performing the drops alongside form and Ryan, but in my understanding from following them, the scope is only considered to have “lost zero” and “failed” if it shifts and starts putting shots outside the rifle’s cone. So if they proofed the rifle with the Mil Spec NF at 1.3 MOA (so radius from center is 0.65 MOA from POA), and Form tests the rifle for zero and it prints a couple shots at 1 MOA from POA, the scope is tested further to see if it continues to print outside the rifles initial cone. One or 2 bad shots are used to determine if more shots are needed, then a loss of zero is determined utilizing a 10+ round group. Unless it lost zero by 18” or more (like the LHT), in which case shot number 1 tells you all that’s needed.

How clean are the barrels ?

If you just look over a few of the reports, its very apparent when a scope fails. It's not some miniscule shift that you might see from a fouling barrel or something. I don't think he even cleans them though. So they're all in the same state of "cleanliness" haha.

This podcast is very informative and entertaining. I hope you guys keep it up.

I just listened to the episode with Dioni. A forthcoming tikka product was mentioned but not named. Is this public information yet? Thanks

@Ryan Avery Listened to the episode and loved it. First podcast I've listened to in several years and I binged like 5 episodes.

A question I had after listening though was how hot is still considered OK for determining your rifle's cone? I would imagine 30 rds would have to take a good long while to shoot without heating up too much right?

Or I am just used to lesser quality equipment and pencil barrels?

And is there a good thread where @Formidilosus talks about terminal ballistics type things? Would love to read more on the other point of view besides "Shoot 215's and things die" (as a 215 shooter myself)

This thread address cold bore vs hot bore zero point of aim shift. Its going off the rails at the end but the testing form and ryan and jake did were phenomenal.
