The Rokslide Stock Traders Thread

Anyone got a sector they like going forward, that isn't tech? I am pretty tech heavy and need to diversify a little more with my next deposit or 2. I was looking into REIT's possibly. I swore off Biotechs years ago.

It would be cool if they all just STFU and stopped feeling the need to give updates every day until an actual deal is agreed upon. All of it is just noise, likely by design.
24 hour news cycle. Peoples attention is the commodity.

Yeah, I agree. I am looking more long term on this.
I still think there will be a dot com like crash due to AI which will drive the entire market down. During that crash consumer necessities are what won. J&J, Walmart, etc.

Same boat here on tech...but I'm resigned to the fact that it outperforms everything else and will be more and more of our lives going forward. I figure if it drops a lot, I'm still ahead of where I would have been in the stodgy stuff. I'm pretty much one trick pony here, a bad guy to ask on some of these industries but here goes;

1) What about looking at the Morningstar list? What I like about it is they rate overvalued/undervalued and you can find some stocks that are out of favor- valued at +/-50% of what they should be.

2) NVO and LLY should be in a growing industry....NVO bounces around and can be bought in the $30-32 range. Research reports say Carmax should do well going forward (I don't follow it)

3) Probably the best suggestion; the best set and forget is to do one of the ETF's that are the total market either in the US or international; VTI, VXUS is a couple good ones

I also have a pretty fair amount in ARCC dont know why it dropped 10-15% and stayed there after I bought it. I’m happy to wait it out given the nice dividend but still ……
One REIT that has been pretty good to me is PSTL ( no that’s not pistol!) own post offices buildings. The post office rarely builds their own buildings and almost always renews the lease so pretty bomb proof🤷🏻‍♂️

Loved that overnight dip as I poured in my biweekly money and bought at open this morning only to watch it all come roaring back and more this morning. Time in the market beats timing the market and I would’ve bought either way but dang it feels good to get a little discount on payday

Ford has been on a pretty good run the past month. I picked up a very small amount and it was up over 40% so far from early May. No idea if it will keep this pace up though.

Thanks for bringing this one to my attention. It’s been in the dumps for me for 4.5 years, but just checked and it’s up 10%. Should I dump it?

I was on the same boat as you. I owned Ford stock for years. It just never really did that much. Finally I just sold it when I finally made a little profit.

Vz is my new Ford. I've owned Verizon for a few years. It has finally started to go up and I should probably just dump it. 5% dividend is what keeps me in it tho.

I've made a significant (to me) investment in semiconductor, amazon and other weekly dividend funds. It's a bit risky but overall blowing the doors off of it with growth and about $4000/mth in dividends. Quick realized cash to more than pay my bills.... including CHPY up about 45% in five months.

"Ford to begin retooling former BlueOval SK plant to 'meet demand' for battery energy storage."
Hope their battery storage units perform better than the electric cars they built.
