The Rokslide Stock Traders Thread

Is the consensus that MSFT and AMZN are still go to stocks?
I’ve been hearing how that is the place to be for a year and I am about even on both🤷🏻‍♂️
Thinking about dumping them both but if somebody smarter than me has an opinion I’d like to hear it!

Idk much. But I’ve bought and will be holding both through the swing. I added some of each recently. I don’t day trade however. Buy and hold. Not much swapping around for me in my port… take my .02 with a grain of salt. I blow up bridges when I get there. If you catch my drift on my rocket surgery skills.

From what I'm seeing is its slow with both........... Long term.

I have HIMS on my watchlist....and they are blowing up badly due to the GLP drug thing. Does anyone have a take on that? It's gone from the 50 dollar range to $18 today.

I like the idea of their business- selling health products to men/women online but I have no idea how badly that lawsuit will affect them. I typically wait until these beat up stocks settle- like my call here on CBRL at $26-28 last December.- now in the $33 range...then If I like the potential they have for moving forward I will buy in.

Lawsuits are tricky. I doubt they would bankrupt the company- that doesn't do anyone any good- but a big award can hamstring the company for a long time.

I’ve made my first stock market moves here recently thanks in large part to this thread. I have some money in and contribute monthly to some managed funds, but I pay them no attention (probably should). I bought some CMC when I worked for them back in 2006. It split not long after… then did NOTHING for a long time. It has been creeping up since 2022-ish, then has exploded recently. I decided to cash in half of my position today. Not sure whether to hold there or cash it all out to re-position elsewhere. It’s a stable company, but I have little faith in it maintaining its current pace. Probably going to put 1/2 of the cash into more MSFT or similar, and 1/2 into something a little more stable like SPY. 🤷‍♂️ May wait for another market scare to buy… wish I would’ve had my ducks in a row around the first week of February! 🤦‍♂️ Thanks to all for the encouragement to get more involved.

It's had a huge run up the last ~6 months, but I really like SATS. It appears it has about 35% exposure to SpaceX after they sold a bunch of spectrum licenses to SpaceX last fall. Really favorable balance sheet overall too, imo.

I'm referring to ticker TSM aka TSMC
It's my largest position, just about to be a 4 bagger....I watch it like a hawk.

TSM makes almost 90% of the worlds most complex semiconductors.....no one else is even close. I think it's Samsung is their next closest competitor at about 10%. When you hear about Nvdia, they don't make anything- just design....TSM makes their chips. TSM was the biggest no brainer in my investing time frame- they dominate the competition.

So TSM has a commanding lead over everyone else and they make appx 50% profit on everything they make. That profit will probably drop a little due to cap ex in the US expanding their manufacturing.

The big negative to TSM is if China invades Taiwan- a possibility- which would tank that stock by 50% (?) overnight. The stock typically does these long run ups....then it falls back into a buy range on some sort of snag or world news.

I think the trick is; Buy stocks/ETF's in the market segments that will do well over the next 5 years, and to buy stocks at a reasonable valuation....TSM is getting extended. MSFT looks good in here.
