The Rokslide Stock Traders Thread

Was it here I saw someone recommending this -Luminar, symbol LAZR?

A lidar business...but then they are getting sued by 3 outfits; Volvo, another company that was making the lidar for them and another AI software company.

Small $8 stock now going belly up. CEO resigned before an inquiry into his actions...has now started an AI company called Russel AI labs. Might be a good idea to stay away from that one too.

What a mess- it's worth taking a look at the STORY here....some of them sound great. Many of these small get rich quick companies are a dice roll.

Good article (I think anyway) in Newsmax by George Mentz, "12 Major Media Falsehoods...."
Whole article linked HERE

He says the media is misleading us and I think he is right on the money, namely with the AI spending labelling it a bubble. I am heavily invested in Tech and data center related companies and they have been hit hard in the last week, namely because of news articles. His take;

1. Artificial Intelligence and Market Panic Narratives

One of the most glaring blind spots concerns artificial intelligence and its alleged threat to financial markets.

Many media commentators continue to speculate that AI will trigger a market correction or crash due to “overinflated valuations.” This framing misunderstands the structure of the modern technology economy. [ii]

In reality, the overwhelming majority of advanced AI development in the United States is controlled by highly profitable, cash-rich firms—Apple, Microsoft, Google, Amazon, Meta, and similar companies.

AI is not an external speculative bubble; it is an extension of existing product lines within companies that already dominate cloud computing, enterprise software, consumer platforms, and digital infrastructure.

The notion that AI represents a fragile, detached asset class capable of destabilizing markets ignores this reality and reflects analytical laziness rather than economic insight.

I hope he and I am right- or I am going to take it on the chin.....grin

Trying to invest a $7000 ROTH IRA before end of year. Seems like market is high to buy now. What are some techniques for funding an IRA at end of year when market seems high? Invest anyway with long term view that if it drops it will recover over time? Buy individual stocks that are not currently inflated? Put it in money markets and wait a while? Buy dividend paying stocks?

You have until April 15th if you wanted to wait.

You can deposit it into your Roth and keep it in their default money market fund until you decide what you'd like to invest it in. There is no deadline to purchase individual stocks/etfs etc.

Might consider SCHD

I think I bought some back in 2020 or 2021 from a “hot tip” from a friend. Bought 100 shares at $27. It’s been a total loss.

Damn, beentheredonethat on the hot tips.

Does anyone like BX- Blackstone here? Any reason NOT to buy it here?

I like the fact it's a smart outfit, good profit margin and record of good earnings...but their chart looks like crap- choppy. I think with the energy infrastructure possibilities- they should be able to kill it in that sector alone. Getting ready to pull the trigger.
