The Rokslide Stock Traders Thread

Yup, that’s why I haven’t bought it. Same type of reason for not buying Oracle. Not that I fault you for it - it was a good investment. I am just not going to invest in the downfall of American society.

Yeah, I'm with you on that. Where taking a philosophical stance gets tricky is in the ETFs, but at least getting out directly takes some kind of stance.

Very true, good point. No telling all the crap I’m invested in through VOO

Other than Tesla and hate for Elon, would you buy the other Mag 6 stocks for a 401k/IRA portfolio strategy vs the S&P500? I'm guessing their will be bigger swings when the 6 move vs the 500 in both directions.

I was too young to remember the dot com bubble but from the research I have done, it does seem similar to what is happening now. All a company has to do is mention they have a connection to AI and funds seem to fly there.

Yes, I think some companies are legitimately doing things with AI and that the funds going there should but I think overall, it’s largely overvaluing things and there will be a pop in the bubble. Some companies will get hit harder than others.

But overall, I take AI like I take Musk. Betting against him is probably a bad idea, especially in the long run.
I just go back to if all these companies fire everyone and unemployment is skyrocketing for well paying jobs. Whos going to buy the products all of these companies are selling? Eventually compensation needs to climb as well for all of these astronomical prices for everyday goods that are the new norm.

Guys haven't followed this thread much but I have but a pittance available in my rollover IRA money market account, approx $4200. All my funds are doing well and between that and my current 401k I have no issues. I stay on top of what I own, but just kind of want to play with that little bit of cash. Any thoughts on where I should throw it. Kind of restricted to traditional stocks and Mutual funds per my agreement there. I pay attention but not really looked at additional investments other than what was availble through our plans, which are typically pretty good.

I have a limit sell order set on my Palantir set at $200. Kocking on $197 at the moment and I'm up 748%.

Philosophically, I'll be a bit relieved to get directly out of that dirty money. I don't really remember why I bought it back in 2021, but having lsince earned more about Peter Theil's vision for a "post-democratic" America as described in Balaji Srinivasan and Curtis Yarvin is, at a minimum, a vision for a dystopian future that I'm not on board with. I'll take the dirty table scraps I can get my hands on, but I sure hope that guy ends up on the receiving end of the reckoning he deserves.

You and me both.

Hogs get slaughtered.

I have no idea man.
It makes me wonder if this is why there is a “sudden” push to bring manufacturing back home so it will create jobs that AI will take away.

It may open up other opportunities for people to create businesses and employ people we don’t even realize are going to be possible.

All I know is that for 34 years I have heard people saying “I don’t know how people afford to buy houses, cars, etc.” Yet everything has continued to get more expensive and we keep finding ways.

Don’t get me started on wages man. I would probably get banned.

Ready for another one of my boring picks? Grin

What do you think?

I just bought some Cracker Barrel, a 1/3 position. The only thing that bothers me is their very high debt ratio. I think it will take another year or two for them to get back on track but it could be a double in 2 years.

EDIT- probably no hurry, we will continue to see tax loss selling on this for the next month or so. I bet it pops 20% after the first of the year.....

Anyone watch Nvidia's presentation yesterday by the CEO? Pretty cool stuff and monumental projections, I'll slowly be adding NVDA for the long game.

Still see lots of growth with Ucore, UURAF, and solid power, SLDP, for my main picks going forward. Fun times to be investing!

I just dumped my fun money $4 grand into them....lol.

Some will say there is no bubble, but the combination of low taxes, weak anti trust rulings, employment laws and a climate that discourages unions has simply set the stage for billionaires to become multi billionaires at the expense of the worker bees and the top 1% now has the wealth of the entire middle class. Capitalism without limits simply does what’s in its best interest. We are well on our way to being governed by oligarchs and they spend billions to convince us to trust them

I’ve been guilty of wondering out loud how can anyone feel the economy isn’t working for them because those around me are doing pretty good, but I was wrong. The standard of living for the average person should be much better than it is.
