The Rokslide Stock Traders Thread

If you are in the acquiring phase of your portfolio this is an opportunity, not a catastrophe. That’s why you see allot of young people rooting for it. Good reminder why you need to slowly pivot out of stocks as your time horizon to retirement shortens. Or have some liquid reserves to weather stuff like this and not have to sell when it’s down. It will rebound.

I say this and my portfolio has shrank significantly during this period. (Over 6 figs) so definitely tests your stomach and investing philosophy/risk profile. But… I won’t realize that loss as I wasn’t planning on selling for another 20 years anyway.

I spoke too soon yesterday....now I'm officially down for the year. Even BRK-B was down.

I'm seeing a couple oil stocks off 19% on the day- wow.

..... I told myself I was going to wait to move my final 1/3rd into the market...but VIX hit 40.....and I've had good results buying there.....so I bought some more META today.

My portfolio took a harder hit today than yesterday. Cant wait to see what my 401 calculates out to later today.

First of all, this is in no way a political statement. I'm 50+ but I talk to a lot of Gen Z & Millennials. It's not hard to figure out why they want things to get worse, crash, reset, whatever you wanna call it. All you have to do is talk to them & HEAR what they say.

Few of the main points (generalities):
- they can't afford to buy a home & start a family (the main 2 pillars of the American dream)
- they can't find a decent job that pays good enough to afford basic necessities
**- they look around & see the people who presided over ruining the country for the last 50 years living the high life rolling in cash calling them lazy & telling them to "just work harder"
***- their government is corrupt to the core (major reason why they love DOGE) and no one EVER faces accountability for their criminal activities, EVER
- tens of millions of unvetted criminal illegals have invaded their country & being given tens of thousands of $$ of their tax money every year & also ILLEGALLY VOTING against their values
I could go on.
It's not a Rep or Dem thing. Although one party openly hates the country & tries to destroy it, the other party sits on their asses & facilitates it.
They're at the point where a total collapse/ reset if fine with them because when it all burns to the ground the pile of ashes they're standing on will be the same height as those people.

This is so sad, but it pretty much articulates where we are at.
But I suspect only the working class understands it….

I am squarely in the millennial category at 31 and I would say these points are extremely accurate. While I did buy a house and start a family, a lot of my buddies have not and probably for the reasons you stated. Watching the income to home price disparity grow over our lifetime has been a wild ride.

Now, what’s everybody buying on sale ?

Lost my ass years ago and divested to stop letting the market dictate when I could retire. Got back to a comfortable position and pulled all my money. Never again.
