I have both Coinbase and Coinbase Pro. I purchase everything on Coinbase Pro as the fees are very minimal and then you can move it back and forth on both platforms as you desire without being charged. IMO the basic Coinbase is more user friendly and easier to understand/navigate. However, a quick tutorial and you’ll understand the Pro version. As was mentioned by Shootinsurveyor, you cannot find all Cryptos available on Coinbase (I.e. XRP, dodgecoin, etc.).

Buying individual stocks is just too risky for me, I prefer mutual funds over the long run. Key is to make sure your portfolio is balanced between stocks, bonds, annuities, cash, real estate, etc to make sure you survive the next big downturn. I am two months from retirement so that is my strategy, somebody 20 years from retirement can afford to take on more risk.
What, not looking to cash out immediately on the next big single stock rise? Sounds like good advice.

FYI- Coinbase won’t let you buy a lot of the not so stable coins like Doge, zen, etc. Coinbase pro is a great interface that is easily understood for the most part. I was told it was the safest place to do basic crypto trading and the commissions don’t seem to bad. I would like to get in on the meme coins and buy some lottery tickets though.
Do you have a recommendation on a platform for trading the less mainstream crypto? I'm studying up on the concept, and I may dabble in a few if I can gain some confidence in my understanding.

Kucoin is what I use along with coinbase. It has most of the alt coins. But it doesn't have dogecoin. I buy the bitcoin on coinbase and transfer to kucoin and then you can exchange the bitcoin for alt coins.

Not that similar, RH is more user friendly IMO. But I have both.

I’ve heard several folks mention they have multiple trading platforms. What’s the advantage? For perspective, I’m not managing a portfolio or anything super serious. This is something I threw a couple hundred bucks at back in March and it’s kinda escalated/grown to couple thousand bucks. I’ve made enough to buy couple guns and few things. And basically looking to continue doing the same. I just want to leave Robinhood strictly on principle. Really don’t even know what all my other options are.

Moving from RH to Firstrade, some of it based on how PO'd I am at RH but also Firstrade has a ton of more info in the app. Less need for a second and third researching app. Not as user friendly as RH, but small things like overlaying price data on the graphs is super helpful to me.

Firstrade also allows for trading most OTC stocks that im interested in.

As soon as the madness dies down I’m out of Robinhood, luckily I got in before all the freezes and for a low average cost so I’ve just been riding everything out because it’s gravy. Missed the GME stuff but in NAKD, CTRM, NOK and AMC. All at price points where if it tanks I’m still good. Don’t want to deal with transferring right now but once I cash out I’m probably going to fidelity. GF is on that and never had issues.

Some people use larger institutions for IRA, long term positions since there are more tools and then use Robinhood for daytrading. Personally, I opened a Robinhood account because it offered free trades compared to paying 4.95 a trade. Now that most platforms offer most trades free, or charge pennies, there is less of an appeal with Robinhood.

All of it is a shit show. We exposed stuff thats not meant to be exposed and theyre pissed. If youre not going to put your eggs in fidelity you might as well not even bother moving. So many of the other platforms restricted trades as well. It became criminal when they crashed all these funds by allowing selling only. I dont trust anyone anymore, government, the market, none of it.

Anyone up early in the morn that can trade pre-market might want to look at GNUS. It's set for huge gains like the craziness that happened last week.

RH put it on a shortlist of stocks they are restricting the buying/selling of. Just like the crap that happened last week with GME. They have good things in the pipeline in the future, but its gonna go nuts for some day trades I think. I chased the hype awhile ago and bought high as hell, so I need it to climb a ton just to get back to even. I'm still a little puzzled how it ended up oh the RH shortlist, but telling people what they can and can't do, paired with all the idiots on all the media outlets etc pumping, is recipe for huge short term gains. Do some DD though, maybe you'll see something I missed. 🤞

Anyone have experience with a trustworthy exchange that allows you to sell XRP right now?

I’m looking for the same, just downloaded and set up a Webull account but I’ll be honest, it’s not near as easy to navigate for me as RH. The only stock I owned prior to last March was Livestock. I’d like an alternative to RH that’s about as easy to use if it’s out there.

THCB - MicroVast merger DA likely to be announced tomorrow.

If it hasn't been announced premarket, I might try to pick some up at the opening bell. If it is already off to the races, I will wait for a dip.

After the XRP suspension on Coinbase happened, I have been trying out many different platforms to trade with over the last month. BITRUE is the best I have found so far.
And guess what, you can buy XRP there.
I've been loading up since 0.17. Crushing it. I have done a crapload of research and IMHO -> XRP will not be found a security. That is by no means a definite. But things look better everyday for Ripple Labs.
