I’m getting my property ready for two mules. I’ve been setting 8’ telephone poles on the corners and where gates are going. Making plans to build two stalls in one of my barns for the mules.
I got my 300 RUM dialed in.
Bad news s I found out three weeks ago that I have cancer. The cancer is in my left kidney so I’m scheduled to have the kidney removed on April 9.
I can’t get to crazy with my mule project not knowing what the outcome with my surgery will be.
I don’t want to leave my wife with some kind of mess.
Other than that I’m shooting my bow everyday.
I have a home gym behind my other barn. I’ve been working out everyday getting my body ready for surgery and post surgery recovery.
Stay hammering!

Prayers said. It’s gonna be good. Plan on finishing that corral.

Good luck Netman, hope everything goes well.

All our cows are calving now so I've been busy as heck. I will stay that way until we get them out on grass in May, there is a lot of work between now and then to do. Calving always involves sniping coyotes so that's fun.

Once the cows are out to grass I plan to load up the river boat and head out for some flathead catfishing and camping on the nearby river. I can social distance there just fine and hopefully tangle with some big cats. I always keep a few in the 5 to 15lb range to eat on that trip and turn the big boys back.

Past that I've pretty much got everything dialed in for my caribou hunt in AK this fall I think. I'm holding out on buying the new boots I want for the trip for now, waiting until I'm more certain its going to happen. If it doesn't for any reason I doubt I'll regret having the money I've saved up for it. It's a nice addition to the usual emergency fund at the moment.

I'm just putting in for points in other states this year except for hunting around home. The caribou trip will take about all the time I can get away from the ranch. I got the bug for hunting Alaska on my moose hunt and want to go back every 2-3 years as I can afford it. I'll do DIY hunts in the lower 48 as I save for Alaska going forward.

Hope everyone stays healthy and has a great fall.

A pic of my older daughter playing like she is Marshall from the Paw Patrol with the pasture burning sprayer I built this spring. Figured she might as well wash the vehicles while she was spraying. Kids are checking cows with me in the UTV and everyone is enjoying it. I get lots of questions and they learn a lot. Younger one likes to sit by the dog on the flatbed and watch.

460 v8. There’s a lot of value in those trucks. You can get good deals on them, and as long as you got a Ford mechanic they’re not too expensive to keep running if something does go wrong. I’d love to have one of these new $60,000 F250s with the gas engine I see running around, but times like this, I’m sure glad I don’t have a truck payment.

even better! I did love the simplicity of those pickups. going back even a little further, some day i'll own a 76' high boy. those are my favorite vehicles of any..... they aren't cheap for a nice one, but still a lot cheaper than the dream rig for most people. I just need one that's not TOO big of a project, but again, they are relatively easy to work on.

In addition to backyard camping for fun and testing gear (which all of us should be able to do), I venture to the local sea islands to camp and hunt. Thankfully one of those sea islands is leased by my small hunt club. I can camp overnight, hunting in the evening and early next morning, then head to the office. I'm the GM of my business so I need to go in basically every day. Last night I was able to get into the woods by dusk, set up camp, then hunt turkey this morning till 10 AM before going to work. Only turkey I saw was when I was leaving the property. Big old tom about 75 yards away saw the front of my truck coming through the gate and started strutting like a beast, really putting on a show and periodically running toward the truck and stopping to strut his stuff. Never had one do that to my vehicle, though we pass them in the road quite often on the club roads. He went on till he got within about 40 yards but quickly faded into the coastal forest as soon as I got out to grab my faithful Wingmaster.

Set up at the end of a deer feeder shooting lane. Really awesome at night to be surrounded by fairly tight woods.

Not really that cold, but need the hoodie to protect me from our hoards of skeeters.

Beautiful morning. ThermaCell made it possible to remove gloves and face net within minutes. Essential tools for Deep South turkey season.

We’ve been hiking as a family more than we ever had. And my son is sharpening his photo skills! The shelter in place has been a tremendous blessing in that we have had to push pause on all of our busy schedules and instead spend time together. Huge blessing!

I lost my job when oil prices fell through the bottom, but I’ve been working and saving money for something like this for 8 years. Spent last week at the coast chasing trout with my gf and this week is turkey hunting some new property we got permission on.

She works in pharmaceutical sales so her job never stops luckily. We are refinancing the house to save a little money every month compared to what we are paying now.

Still applying everywhere as usual and hoping for the best, had a good season last year so plenty of meat and fish in the freezer

I envy you guys. Still the same schedule for me and the wife (essential workers). I come home and do 2 hours of school work with my daughter every night. The only thing that has changed is figure skating for her is halted for quite a while. We aren’t running 5 days a week now but most things are closed and the weather is crap right now. Daughter does off ice training with her coach, individually and group, via a meeting app and puts it up on the TV and does her thing in the living room.

I can’t wait for this overreaction to be done and over with.

my feral children were already homeschooled and I have an essential job, so honestly besides everything being closed, not much has changed. I telework on the days I can’t go to work and fly, so I’m getting a lot of stuff done. My teleworking has consisted of re-landscaping the front yard and all the planters with my wife and kids, working on my cherry sideboard, doing online hunters education with my daughter, taking the kids camping and shooting (this weekend), and I broke out the bow and got a Robin Hood on my fifth arrow.

Went out bushwhack hiking while camping and my oldest daughter found a chewed up shed. She was really excited!

Wish I could say I’ve been doing some fun stuff like most of everyone else on here, here in Utah we’re not on total lockdown yet so there’s still places open and business still operating including mine. This is the time of year I try to pick up a side hustle to save up money for the upcoming season so I’m pretty lame till scouting season starts, hope everyone on here makes it through this ok and has a great upcoming hunting season.

It's great to see some positivity these days! I'm still working, although from home, but with the world a little slower I'm able to catch up on some things around the house. The added family time has been great too! Ready to head to the mountains next weekend for youth turkey season here in VA and then the full opener the following weekend. Might try to hit a local stream and fly fish a bit too.

I see some pictures where there isn't social distancing! ;)

While not about getting out during the shut in, we made biscuits and gravy with my bear chorizo. I'm getting low on the chorizo, spring bear can't come soon enough. Shout out to @JJBuck for the tip on getting bear chorizo!

79F9202C-090F-4B69-BCF9-9685544594AF.jpegTook my oldest son on his first turkey hunt last week, chasing public land Osceolas. Little man put several miles on the boots each day and heard hundreds of gobbles. Had a blast.

Stay safe everyone. Thanks for this thread.
