Anyone continue to have a rifle that won't shoot for anything?

I've gone through the normal things to get it shooting well: Free float the barrel, bed it, handload and fuss with bullets, casings etc.
I've heard of rifles with chambers that don't line up square to the breech and other shenanigans that are similar-but I don't have a lot of experience to be able to measure such things.

Well I have two such guns right now both used one Rem 721 in 270. Tried multiple ammos and some reloads and deep cleaning of barrel. No joy I got a borescope and checked out the bore and it seems the bore is shot but it will be going to a Gun Smith to see what his take is on it. Next is a 223 WSSM Winchester model 70 tried multiple hand loads and some factory load nothing to impressive and the throat looks a little wore it 's another that will go to the Smith for his take. Both guns would not shoot better than 2.5-3 MOA at 100 yards. So I feel your pain. So I stopped messing with either one till the Smith looks at them.

What rifle, and what kind of groups?

Had one. No longer have it.

My step one is to check for anything glaring, and re-torque action, base and ring screws. Step two is to swap in a known-good scope. If that doesnt work afyer trying a couple different types of quality ammo, you have to ask if it's worth it.

A YouTuber had a rifle that wouldn't shoot. They went through everything including a chassis. It was the barrel.

Have you tried a different scope or remounted it to make sure the mounting is torqued correctly?

But, what do you mean by "won't shoot for anything"? What size groups are we talking about?

I've got an M77 that can't shoot a group. It's been free floated. And glass bedded. And cryo-treated.
It's had the action screws' torque checked over and over again. It's had scopes swapped. It's had a boatload of different powder and pill combination down the tube. Gunsmith says the crown is fine. It might behave for a while, printing one or two 3-round groups at sub MOA, but I've never done it with 5 rounds. It can still hunt at 100 yards, and maybe even all the way to point blank range for the 7 RM, but I just don't wanna chance my one shot being the flier.

It's a beautiful gun that my father put together for me when I was too young to afford such things myself, so I don't think I can let it go, but I fear it may have become a safe queen after I bought a Tikka in a do-all caliber. Seems rather tragic to own it if I can't hunt with it and don't enjoy shooting it.

This is THE story of M77s. I have three and I like them a lot but they are not helpful for chasing accuracy. Just like you I had put my 30-06 Hawkeye through everything. Nothing worked until a very talented gunsmith noticed that the copper fouling was uneven on the last 1.5" of barrel. So he cut off 1.75" and for the first time in my life I owned an accurate rifle.
