The REAPER from Unknown Suppressors

I wish there was a cost effective way to get one of these, there’s no silencer transfer place where I live.
I get the cost effectiveness aspect of this. My dealer is charging $100 to process the paperwork. I view the current discount from US covering that, and I decided to eat the stamp myself, as I hope to hunt with it next month. Also, pessimism makes me think the free stamp will never happen. I hope I am very wrong about that!

Me too. I’ve been thinking about getting my SOT and a print scanner…now they are taking away the tax stamp in January BUT still have to use a SOT (which is nothing more than a tax collecting authorization) to transfer one???? I guess I’ll wait until the process plays out hoping a plain old FFL will be able to transfer when the smoke clears.

I have to travel pretty far to a dealer so I'd say buying a reaper would basically cost me 500-1000 dollars more than the cost of the silencer itself.

I have not tried it on a Reaper, but the Hellfire mount is what I intend to use once I receive it.
For what is worth, I switched a Jolene to the Hellfire mount because the DTA/blast chamber combo that came with it was not concentric to the bore. The replacement (DTA only) Resilient sent was slightly better, but not anywhere close to the near-perfection level of the Area 419 mount.

Yeah. I just invested in the area 419 system for a hellfire match and tbac 9. Probably give it a go and put the SRS brake on it to fit in between.

Welcome sir! Glad you finally found your way over here. Be careful, this place will have you spending a lot of money

would Capitol Armory take the Form 3 transfer, do the Form 4, and then ship it to you door like they do their in-house cans?
That is something I don't know about. I guess when I get closer to the time Im buying I'll call them and ask. Speaking of capitol armory, it's sort of funny. People complain about silencer central but I just did my first silencer through capitol and it was the EXACT SAME PROCESS....identical steps, timeframe etc. I just thought it was funny since people complain about SC but rave about CA.

I just called Capitol Armory because I was curious if they would accept a form 3 and then do the form 4 to your door. He said they do it all the time, it's $155 transfer fee plus whatever shipping that might be incurred and the $200 tax stamp. Pretty good deal really for those that would have to travel to an FFL.

I can't comment of the Capitol Armory/Silencer Central thing as I've never used either, but yes my suggestion of Capitol was purely off of what I have read about them both.

So you buy it, have it shipped to capitol armory then go through they process get it to your door? sounds easy enough, I guess 155.00 isn't too bad.

That's not bad, local spot quoted me $75 for a transfer, but I'd about pay an extra $80 just to avoid dealing with them.

I may be out of line here, but I get the impression most of the hate for SC is that they heavily push their house brand of “Banish” cans. It seems many feel they are overpriced and/or underperform compared to the competition. I’ve not used SC myself but I can say capitol armory was a great experience for me.

Not saying capitol armory is a bad experience, I’ve just read that it’s better than SC, I’ve also read many claims of how slow SC is even though I never found SC to be bad. Just commenting that it’s pretty much the exact same experience. You are also right about the banish stuff and how SC pushes it.

I have purchased 4 cans from Capitol Armory. Good and easy process. “IF” the manufacture is in their network of dealers. Out of network the fee of$155 is excessive as I also have to pay an additional .0825 sales tax on the entire transaction. This adds $80 to every $1000 spent. So if I go Air lock or Reaper it adds $240 +$200 stamp to the price of an $850 can. That is a 45-50% “fee” on every can. That business model is not sustainable and has me out of these vendors.
