The Raven: Unknown Munitions Tikka Clone action coming soon?

They still are quite a way apart. Nitriding is what — $200? A pic rail is $100 max. So $1100 gets you a stainless Tikka + nitride.

You’re not getting out for <$2k on a Raven build once you add barrel/trigger/stock.

Again, I’ll be the first customer in line. Not knocking the product.
I was thinking buying a Tikka to throw away the barrel and stock where you're buying a barrel and stock either way.

for those strictly looking at total investment, no, a complete rifle is no comparison.
From a custom rifle perspective, getting a better product and its exactly the way you want it, it costs what it costs.

Take it off or buy the light version if you don’t have a need for it or don’t like it???
Simply stating a dust cover on the ejection port of a bolt action rifle is not the standard in the United States or Finland apparently.

Hell I’m having trouble finding a Google picture of a rifle like that.

Not sure I'd agree, though I suppose it depends on someone's definition of performance. For me personally, the integrated pic rail alone makes it higher performance, in terms of overall system reliability and the implications of cost savings related to all aspects of what goes into the optics - everything from decreased mounting/lapping/fastener cleaning and threadlocking, all the way to troubleshooting a shifting zero. I'd happily pay the cost differential for that alone, in terms of time savings and enhanced reliability. But when you add in more precision in the machining and that damn dust cover, those are two additional performance adds that make it an easy yes for me personally.
I concede that dust cover is pretty cool.

Either way I’m buying one and supporting the guys who support us.

*looks at my BAT Vesper that costs roughly $2k*

I think the price is fair
I don't see that as their competitor...their competitors are the Kelbly Atlas Lite, Defiance Misfit, etc. At the same price and the availability of the other stuff...triggers, stock inlets, etc. They have a hill to climb. I hope it takes off like wildfire and I think at 7-800 it would've, not sure at 1100.

I don't hunt places where I've ever feel I needed a dust cover...I live in TX, where stuff gets dusty just walking out to the side by side ;). Integrated though, it could have that look cool factor...but copying the AR design isn't that. Looking forward to seeing what they come up with.

Dust cover is a great add IMO.

Honestly the only thing I dont love is if it has same propensity to show pressure signs earlier than a 700 customs, same bolt lift effort as tikka, and not having impact tennon threads.

They are striving to be the best Tikka clone. Vesper is the best lightweight R700 clone.

$1,200 is a fair price for an aftermarket action.

Apples to apples a factory Tikka is a better builder compared to a factory R700. If Tikka had hit the market closer to when the R700 came out I believe that Tikka would have been the aftermarket action of choice. There would have also been a true long action Tikka produced

I’m assuming that price is for the lite, has anyone caught or seen the price for the std version yet? If the std is cheaper (I’d think it would be), I’d think they would sell well and probably what I’d be interested in to try.

On that note it shouldn’t be out of the question for them to offer 1.062” dia tenons down the road at some point for those that might want it. With the flat front face for the 1.200” shanks I’d think the larger tenon would be a good option for those that want it.

So does anybody see early pressure with large dia cartridges like the WSM’s in Tikka’s?
