If trying to save money, a Tikka without upgrades is the answer.

If you only want the action and are going replace everything else on the rifle anyway, then a few hundred more for an integrated rail and nitride becomes worth it.

My real concern is that they screw up the clone with tighter clearance or something and it is not as reliable and robust as a factory Tikka action. At this point, I have 3 Tikkas and don't need another, so I'm not planning on buying a Raven.

The Tikka trigger is good. I replaced mine with Sako S20 triggers to get a 3 position safety and fix the safety binding if the bolt is pushed up. But, if I got a Raven I would be putting a Tikka trigger on it as none of the aftermarket Tikka triggers address those issues and the supply of S20 triggers is very limited. So, the Raven not including a Tikka trigger is a downside in general in my opinion (but one that cannot be helped).

Over all, I hope this does well and think it is a cool project from UM.

I expect your feeling is correct, but even the best evaluation does not compare to years of use involving thousands of products.

Even Toyota has things to work out the first year of a new generation.

Exactly, and the other point I think is important to bring up is scale.

The difference between prototypes and scaling into production is a MASSIVE one for companies with deep domain experience. It's even more for small companies/people that don't have the budget and the experience.

Statistics and stack up is just brutal at scale, from what seems insignificant (maybe bolt installation torque) to GD&T and beyond.

I know no one really hit's it, but there is a reason 6 standard deviations is the target. When you make a bunch of product those tails of the bell curve turn into big numbers and big warrantee costs.

Their “Short Action Standard Extended” magazine fits 2.980 COAL. I’ve only ever used the standard length magazines, with COAL of 2.88. For what it’s worth, they’ve been very nice for me with the 700 footprint actions. Sleek flush option that has functioned well. I’d love to hear from someone who’s tried the Tikka version.

Quoted from the website (no idea how this would play out with a Tikka/Raven):

These magazines do not feature a binder plate and your action may need machine work to prevent bullets from catching below the feed ramp.
