Does the perfect hunting scope exist?

It already exists, kind of, in the Leupold VX line if only it was more reliable. I really want a VX-6 4-24x52 with the TMOA reticle. It checks so many boxes…2nd focal, lighter weight, a 4x on the low end. Just too many horror stories with holding zero or returning when dialing for me to give one a try. If someone made a hunting rig similar to this with low end mag on the low end and a reticle that wasn’t a mess and was reliable…it would be a major seller
What good are the subtensions on a 24x scope if they are only accurate at 24x? I can’t say I’ve ever shot an animal or really anything other than target spots at 24xj.

I have killed several animals at full power🤷🏻‍♂️. I use an SFP NX8 4-32 and shot my bear last weekend at 32x at 650

It exists with respect to what works best for each hunter. Some folks have never had issues with some scopes, other guys swear they would give up hunting before using one of those. Functionality in the eye of a user and the user's experience, not much more to say about it than that. Honestly, and based on reading for years on this forum, guys that want to shoot at animals instead of hunt animals seem to have the most issues with certain scopes.

Sorry to revive this but was reading through your request for a perfect scope

Trijicon tenmile is gonna be the closest you can get from the research I’ve done

Those things are military grade tanks and hold zero for the rest of your life and track well!

Not too pricey either!

Issue is gonna be weight! Hey weigh closer to 30 ounces.

But a lightweight scope is why many scope brands like leupold have issues with durability and holding 0! Can’t have it all!

I’d deal with a little more weight and get a Trijicon tenmile

The Maven RS1.2 is my favorite scope when long range hunting is likely to be a thing. I do really like it. For a universal rig to do it all it wouldn’t be my top choice…As a hunter first and a shooter second…here goes my list.

My perfect hunting scope in order of importance:

Hold Zero
Return to zero
Durable
Capped turrets
Good optical quality (B+ or better)
Magnification low end 1-2, max 10
Max objective 42 mm (to save weight and keep scope low)
Under 20oz ish weight, max 22oz
SFP
simple mil reticle similar to the Swarovski BRH…except I would like the Christmas tree hash lines to be thinner to accentuate the primary aim point/duplex posts

Optional…
Illumination
Parallax adjustment

The Swarovski Z6 1.7-10x42 BRH is incredibly close. I don’t hear much info about the Swaros here.
IMO, I feel like good FOV trumps higher magnification 67% of the time…unless you are trying to shoot animals at 800 yards a quality 10X with good glass can be incredibly accurate. There’s a lot of places that I hunt in the bushes that I don’t want anything over 2X magnification
