The perfect barret fieldcraft scope?

Reviving an old thread to get some thoughts.... I probably already know the answer but, never hurts asking.

I have two fieldcrafts - one in 308 and the other in 270.

The 308 has a wonderful stock done by Accurate Innovations and has a NF NXS 2.5-10x42. Which I think is a great setup.

I have a 270 that I'm leaning to take on a Dall sheep hunt next year. Currently has a NXS 2.5-10 x24. For some reason which I can't remember why, I sold/traded a x32 that I had on this. Probably should not have done that.

I also have an NF ATACR 4-16x42 laying around that would do better than the 2.5-10 X24.

So. would you:

A) Just bite the bullet and get a NF NXS 2.5-10x42?
B) Keep the x24?
C) use the ATACR? the 10 oz is not going to kill me.
D) Just take the 308?

I still don't think there is a perfect scope for my Fieldcraft. The 3-10 SHV I use is close. If it was FFP/Mil, that would be perfect.

I have a vx-6hd 42mm on my 308 for the last 2 yrs no issues. Keeps me under 7.5# with my can.

I wanted something similar for my 6.5CM Fieldcraft, but couldn't find what I ultimately wanted. I decided to go with weight savings over dialing reliability and went with the VX3i 2.5-8x36. I had them put Zero Lock turrets on, and change to an Impact 32 reticle so I can hold over and not dial as I don't completely trust dialing yet on a VX3i. Windage turret stays capped. I did the same factory changes with the 4.5-14x40 CDS, but the FOV seemed small to me, so have been running the 2.5-8x36 and been pleased. Overall, it's great for what I need it for. I have the Razor LH 3-15 you mentioned on my Kimber Montana in .280 AI and really like it. The FOV seems really big to me, and it doesn't tunnel at the low end like the 2.5-8 and 4.5-14 do. It's just heavy at 16.5 oz I think it was. It's great on the Montana though.

How things have changed. I changed to a NXS 2.5-10 pretty quickly after that first year on custom direct mount steel made rings. Great little sheep gun!

Scopes are perfect for their owner, not the gun. Silly thread, but interesting to read.

6X and 10X SWFA have been perfect, for me, on my Fieldcraft.

My favorite is the S&B 6x42 PMII. ...but back to the question...

If you want a 2.5-10x42, post the 2.5-10x24 for trade. Some guys really desire that scope.

I currently am using 2 Swfa 3/9 and bushnell Lrhs 3-12 and Lrtsi 3-12 on my Barrett’s. I’ve also used the Nightforce 2.5-10 on one in the best but swapped it to a short action NULA recently.

Yep. The Leupold 6x42's have always been very pleasing to me optically. Most 6x42's are, but for some reason the Leupold 6x42 have been extra easy to get behind. If Leupold would take the steps to make it reliable as an SWFA, zero stopped mil elevation, mildot, and capped windage I'd happily throw $ at them and care less about the 20 oz weight of the scope.

I’m with @JCMCUBIC except I use the PMII 10x42.
