"the Meat Co-Op"

I've never split meat and I've packed a ton of other people's animals. I helped a buddy and my youngest brother kill a couple elk between 6-7 miles in and packed meat for the better part of 2 days with no meat reward. I just like being out there I guess.

Everyone will be different and have different expectations.
I wish my groups had a better expectation going in.
My personal view is I expect nothing when I get to help a buddy but I always offer when they help me. That being said I have the benefit of harvesting multiple cow elk every year so I am never hurting for meat.
Most of my hunts are with family and everything is shared based on who uses the most. With 5 kids and the amount of jerky I make I go through far more than anyone but I give them a lot of jerky as well.
It's not worth getting upset or losing friends over.

eh...I have never entered a formal agreement on splitting the animal equally. Sorry I'm not giving up 1/2 of my elk to my buddy I'm hunting with. If someone shoots one, expectation is everyone helps to pack out. Or at least everyone I hunt with would offer to help if needed. Knowing I would return the favor. If I get called at 8pm to help my buddy recover his deer 1hr away...I just do it if available and expect nothing in return. What the hell is the point of shooting a cow for meat then splitting it 4 ways? Or 4 guys in camp I kill a deer an no one else does now I have 1/4 of a deer? Nope.

Hell I shot and elk, moose, and a couple deer this year and feel low on meat right now feeding a family of 4 (soon to be a 5th once the baby eats solids).

With that said...I will offer or gift them some processed sausage, steaks, snack sticks etc as a thank you. I have also killed does and gave them to people that wanted them
