Every company believes that they operate within high ethical standards.
Every company believes that they "will not support anyone who promotes what we feel is unethical or dangerous hunting practices regardless of its legality"
Every company claims "will not put our business needs over wildlife and the future of hunting, period."

It's definitely feel good pandering (and maybe effective marketing based on the response here) but I'm failing to see how this is somehow "taking a stand". What meaningful actions are being taken?

I read a solid email version of a pep rally. An effort to paint yourself as the "good guys" whom we should support with our $ rather than the "bad guys", and while there's nothing wrong with that, it's not exactly revolutionary.

I am happy to hear about the .204 stuff though

Adding on to RampartLB - and I'm from the development/sourcing side: You are totally incorrect and kind of shocked anyone would make that claim.

Some companies are ignorant and would make the claims you list. Plenty of others give zero shits about ethics, dangerous hunting practices or wildlife. They want to build a brand - make you feel like you're part of a tribe, have your truck window covered with their brand stickers, wear their T-Shirts (I'm totally guilty on that one), buy the necessary updated version of whatever they sold you last year.

Regardless, lots of good companies and products out there. Buy what you like from whomever you like.

Good to see people recognizing that legal does not always equal moral and ethical. I've always thought the "I support everything legal" view was the wrong way. Hunters have to police themselves and call out bad behavior where it's warranted.

For me to be incorrect, please show me any company which claims:

"We support people who promote unethical or dangerous hunting practices regardless of its legality"
"We put our business needs over wildlife and the future of hunting, period."

I'll wait.

"For me to be incorrect"?? - you made the claim "every company..." in your initial post. You were wrong/incorrect. Just a fact. Been there/done that much more than I'd like to admit.

Your statement above is an interesting nonsensical twist. Keep waiting and "knowing" you're right.

I see it as "defending their buddy" kind of mentality.

Saw nothing wrong with what you wrote.

OK, please post an example.

I did NOT claim that all companies care about animals/habitat/hunter ethics equally. I did NOT make that claim. My actual claim is that all companies CLAIM TO CARE about animals/habitat/hunter ethics, just as Day Six did in the email.

To put it in other words, ALL companies talk the talk, regardless of whether or not they actually walk the walk.

You mean like companies that continue to carry products from convicted poachers? Or continue to support those convicted?

Convicted mind you, not alleged.

You said every company operates, so one company that doesn’t is all it takes to break your assertion.

Good example. Those companies that support said individual will also claim to care about animals/habitat/hunter ethics, right? They'll claim one thing while doing another, right?

Which makes the claims meaningless of "hollow"...

To "break" my assertion, you'll have to show me a company that claims to not care about animals/habitat/hunter ethics.

Lance Armstrong claimed to be drug free while doping his ass off for years. But he said the right things...
