The hunting forum needs a bison subsection

I have no opinion as to the validity of your suggestion, but the appropriate way to broach that subject is through contact with the folks who administer the Rokslide site (via personal messages).

Its a cow hunt, just post in with the elk and let the fun begin.
Unless you're using a bow (recurve or long) or ML, then post based on weapon, or maybe the Rally Point.

Tell ya what, if rokslide can go just 3 consecutive days without people posting about elk, firearms, optics, mule deer, gps and mapping etc. in the general forum, I will get on my knees and beg @robby denning and @Ryan Avery for a bison subsection.

These gotta be earth days?
Jupiter days are only 10 hrs.
Probably still a stretch to make it that long.

Need is a strong word.. You probably should have used the word "want" . Hard to get a true bison tag. I'd pay $6k to shoot a farmed bison though.. Seems like a decent deal. Probably walk away with 800# meat right?

I think it was around 450# or so with mine though I didn’t weigh it all when it came in. When I looked into my hunt as a non resident it was most likely going to be over a decade to draw a tag anywhere so I looked around for high fence places that offered at least some challenge to the hunt. I had zero interest in doing one of those hunts where you walk into a herd and shoot one while they all stand there eating so I looked for places that had minimal interaction with their bison except to hunt them. Could I have sat back at 300 yards and plugged one with my .300 Win Mag, sure but I took my Sharps to make it that much harder

End result was the bison I hunted were easily spooked and it took 7 stalks over a day and a half to finally get a shot on a good bull. It was also -9 degrees and easily the coldest hunt I had ever been on as it doesn’t really get that cold here in PA during hunting season.

They are just protesting that AK requires a minimum grain bullet and minimum energy in order to hunt bison. To paraphrase world-class experts, it is just stupid.

Consider doing a bovine-family thread? Plains bison. Wood bison. European bison. Water buffalo. Cape buffalo.
