The Gear I’ll Never Use Again

Dang I've never managed to snap a blade, love my Havalon

Cries in muzzleloader

I had a cheapy Badlands harness that did this, my Marsupial harness is nice though
Yeah I over looked muzzleloaders, talking rifles specifically. I’ll take a 45 cal over a 50 cal muzzy though.

Man I have to stop you on the mountain house.. the old ones, yeah sure I’ll agree with you. but anymore I actually prefer the MH to peak by a mile on taste (yes I know everyone has different tastes). Plus they’re less bulky (yes, I’m also aware they’re less calories in a pack than peak). And cheaper
Really?? My bunghole was abused badly enough by them back in the day that I haven’t tried them in years.

Agree on a lot of what's been mentioned.
My main items:
- Soft shell jackets
- Insulated boots for any type of hunt other than tree stand whitetails
- Christensen Arms rifles - have had way to many issues with the bolt and ejecting spent rounds
- Water bladders in the backpack
- Top lids on a backpack for day hunts

Yeah, there's certain MH meals I'll never eat again. The one that comes to mind was a Beeferoni or something like that. I couldn't hardly hunt the next day.

Well that’s probably the issue. The bunghole is generally considered an exit. They’re much better going through the other end of the body.

In all seriousness though, there’s only a few MH variations I can eat. Generally the breakfast options.

How did you manage to do that?
I did fall with the bow but not on it or hardly enough to where I feel it should have broke. Maybe cold temps were a factor. It was on a December hunt.

I think the black gold pins are the best on the market and prefer them when shooting a target, but since moving to spott Hogg the durability is not comparable. Ive crashed and burned several times including a minor dirt bike crash with the spott Hogg and its an absolute tank.

I am admittedly hard on gear and the BG warranty was legit, but that doesn’t save the hunt.

I have friends who have had issues with the newer BG’s stripping as well. I think the company has been pursuing weight savings too much.

Savage rifles period but specifically on late season backcountry hunts, or any other rifle with an open trigger system and floating bolt head for that matter.

Mid tier vortex or leupold rifle scopes on any hunt where there's a chance they're going to bounce around at any distance greater than 1 milimeter.

SG Chilkoot 15. One night toucking condensation on my tipi soaked it through; water resistant my ass. One size fits people over 6'3"... slept very cold in 35° when it was dry.

Jetboil. Had it tip over and become a fireball.

MSR Pocket Rocket Deluxe. Didnt take much to destroy it, just one minor fall. Went back to Soto, total beast!

Leupold vx5. Lost zero after 500 rounds.

Go Hunt glassing pad. So light its useless.

Anything Vortex.

Big Agness Lost Dog 15. It good down to 45.

Dark Energy Poseidon. The waterproof door breaks within 4 months, using about twice a week. At about that same usage, it only charges my phone to about 75%. Anker 20000mah last way longer at very little weight gain and offer more than double the juice.

Almost all of Heathers Choice entrees. That chili isnt fit for dogs.

Kennetreks. Had 2 pairs, both leak.

Kuiu Kenai Jacket. Thing snags on air. Has runs all over it and pills terribly. Not warm when wet either.

Hydration bladders. Cant be trusted.

Sawyer minis. They suck.

“This thing snags on air”

Haha thanks mate for giving me a good laugh 😆

FWIW I’ve heard from others that it’s easy to beat up

My pocket rocket deluze fell apart last year . the burner head is press fit together with almost microscopic indents. I fixed it when I got home, had to find pictures of one online as there are several screens one very fine that need to be in the right order for it to work right. I had tried in the hills and it worked half as good to limp through the hunt. When reassembling I figured out that it had not been pressed tightly enough to "click into place". I also made very slight bends on the edge of the wind screen to insure it will not come apart again. works as it should now.
