Closed cell foam sleeping pads. I can't get a good nights sleep on one. For backpacking, I now use neoair's (xlite for warmer and xtherm for colder) and never looked back

I’ll absolutely try the Jim Greens. Do they have a wide toe box? What was the second brand you mentioned? “nicks”? I want to wear minimalist boots and I would love something more robust for work boots too. I haven’t been able to find anything yet that fits the bill, so hopefully these do.

Nicks are a new offering I havnt tried but plan to. They just started making a barefoot style boot. Unknown on the last I need to email/call.

Here’s a thread on the Jim green troopers. I also have a set of rangers for home and work. These boots take a bit of break in and the factory outsole sucks for the mointains but they are a much more robust boot. Feel more like a boot and less like a moccasin (vivo)

Heathers Choice meals. bought a bunch a few years ago they were all nasty. Its become a joke with my hunting partners. Packaroons are good but there are plenty of better cheaper snacks.

Have you tried the CNOC bags with the sawyer filter? Used in alaska this year alot and they seem a lot hardier than the other sawyer bags.

Oh yeah, Outdoor Edge knives - was missing my havalon before my elk hunt so grabbed the OE disposable blade version that came with four blades on my way to the woods. Couldn’t even finish quartering my bull before the 4 blades dulled. Stupid push button blade release kept jamming too. I can quarter a whole elk with one or two havalon blades…

Maybe you got a bad batch of blades because my experience with OE has been the exact opposite. Well over 20 animals on my OE and only ever had to change the blade once mid-breakdown of an animal.

Vortex Optics-2 Rangefinders, 3 different scopes, and a set of binos all were sent back, either broke, fogged, lost zero.

Keen, Merrell, Lowas, Meindl or any primarily synthetic boots. They may be comfortable, but they rarely have the support for side-hilling or packing heavy and breakdown after a season or two.

Non Darn Tough Socks

Lead bullets- On year 20 of shooting barnes TTSX and LRX, and Im never going back.

Bic lighters- near worthless in later seasons or temps in the 20s and below

Buck knife- cant believe I skinned and gutted animals with that machete sized, dull pry bar of a knife.

Headlamps of any brand that use AA or AAA- Headlamps that use 18650 Lithium Ion* batts are the bees knees.

Rifle mounted bipod-Traded the harris for the javelin and its way mobeta.

Kifaru anything- despite making the best weight carrying pack, they quit on their customer base, no thanks.

I’ll definitely check into that. Been using platypus bags and just putting the filter in-line camelback style. Thanks for the heads up

I love the VP cans. You can also try the cheap spouts on Amazon, they come with different adapters that I found fit all my old cans, just google gas can spouts.

Kimber rifles.

Any scope without good hydrophobic coatings.

Any boots that don't have the entire toe made of one piece of leather or/and have synthetic/plastic-y bits interspersed with the leather.

Also, any boots that don't have soles that look like a super-aggressive mud tire, made of some type of high traction rubber.

Also, any boots that aren't at least very water resistant, and they should be preferably waterproof.

Most cotton clothing.

Anything kennetrek. All I ever had was there gaiters I basically got for free and they fell apart after one trip. So that tainted their entire brand for me, not that I’d ever buy their boots anyways because no reason to leave Lowa.

Same with Argali, both a tent and games bags ripped too easily. I barely touched my pitched tipi with my boot rind and the tent ripped 6 inches.

Man my gaiters are 9 years old and probably have near 1000 miles on them and they look new.

LiFeP04 is terrible for a camping headlight. About half the capacity of a standard lithium ion battery, which is also brighter due to higher voltage.

You'll be hard pressed to find better powerbanks than Anker. I'm using a 20,000mah that's 7 years old and still giving me about 3.5 phone charges

And they stand by thier product. I just received my new one that replaced the recalled item(from several years ago). It’s larger and bulkier than the old, but nice to get one you don’t have to worry about catching on fire.
