“If the world hates you, know that it has hated me before it hated you. John 15:18John 15:19
I think on this often. My biggest fear in life is that I will deny the Lord/Holy Spirit/God in some manner. The reality is, my mouth does it every time I speak ill of another, my brain does it every time I think ill of another, and my body loses the battle to sin all the time. But, I still strive to do the will of God. We like to think of the "big things" in life, but it is also the small things in life that we deny the Lord with. I fight this every single moment.Again Peter denied it. And immediately the cock crowed.
John 18:27
Ooh, Peter. How I wish I'd say I'd do better, but in reality, I probably wouldn't have even had the guts to go in and be standing by the fire.
Peter walked on water, saw so many miracles, walked with Jesus for 3.5 years, was given the power to cast out demons and heal the sick, and still denied Jesus in a time of duress.
It's easy to be a Christian when everything is going right.
This is good brotherI think on this often. My biggest fear in life is that I will deny the Lord/Holy Spirit/God in some manner. The reality is, my mouth does it every time I speak ill of another, my brain does it every time I think ill of another, and my body loses the battle to sin all the time. I think Peter was an example, of how pride and arrogance can be barriers to serving the Lord. We are asked to humble ourselves. There is a reason for that. Until we are humbled, there still is some speck of "I did this" within all of the salvations discussion. Humbling can come in a lot of forms. It has in my life at least.
But the good news is Peter was redeemed and turned himself into a powerful weapon against the worldly lords. God used Peter the same way He can use any of us, IF we allow it. Humble ourselves before the Lord.
